I just wondered if anyone knows the current HP record on the hacked 2G maf. I was told it is around 450whp.

Cool. I guess i'll just watch the hertz count and when it flatlines thats it. I was looking into the evo maf also because I heard some guys epoxied the honeycombs in them and hit 585whp.

There are no limits to the 2G MAF or any MAF/MAS when using DSMlink. There is a point where it is overrun and becomes unreliable, but as long as you have a decent engine management, the MAF/MAS is a non-issue.

DSMlink allows you to ignore the 2G MAF after a set clamp point such as 2400Hz and then uses a MAP sensor input to calculate injector duty cycles. The MAF is still necessary for idle and part throttle, but completely ignored at WOT. I'm sure many have made way over 500+WHP on 2G MAF's with Link.

Sky is the limit with the correct EM.

So you get all the driveablility of the Maf at lower airflow and then its switches to the Map at higher levels. I've been hearing lots of good stuff about Dsmlink lately so I might have to give in and get it. Thanks for the input

A lot of people dont like that feature on dsmlink but that is how people are making that much power on the 2g maf. It doesnt work that great, because if it did people would use the 1g maf with dsmlink and have no issues, but thats not the case.

With dsmlink I would run a maf-t setup over the 2g maf anyday. The evo/3g mafs can handle all the power you can through at it, 600+whp has been proven on them. If you get to the point where the maf is an issue you can always go with a maf-t setup.

Fake MAF + Use Map is probably the best feature on DSMlink. And when you say that people don't like it, what do you mean? Who? It works so perfectly that it's unbelievably easy. Have you activated this feature before on your car?

Your argument that the reason why it doesn't work is because 1G owners don't use the 1G MAF, is false. 1G owners upgrade their MAF's because it becomes unreliable after 2000Hz and they upgrade to a 2G MAF or a GMAF. Most people don't go from stock airflow to 4500Hz in one massive upgrade. If I had, then the 1G MAF would still work perfectly fine, because I would set up DSMlink to ignore the 1G MAF after 1800Hz and use the MAP sensor instead to calculate injector duty cycle.

2g mafs are good for 500hp,if you want more dsm link or maft is a must.
Im making 445hp/434lbs on the maft/link combo on a fp 18g sl2.

I have never seen people on the Link forums bash on the Fake MAS option, and it works just fine. You're basing that statement on the fact that people are upgrading from the 1g MAS alone, which has no bearing on the actual usage of Fake MAS.

How about the GM mafs with Dsmlink? I heard originally they were a pain to use because they use different scales from mitsu mafs and no one had the compensation table perfected. However recently i've heard of alot of people using them with dsmlink. Do most people use them as blow through mafs? Is there alot to be gained from not having the maf on the inlet side?

You can vent, and you can drive the car if you blow an intercooler pipe.

The GM MAFs are much more viable with DSMLink or anything else that can compensate for when they read off. There are protocols posted in the DSMLink wiki as well as JeffGST's website regarding how to do this as well.
