i was considering taking out the honeycomb liek i read but im not sure if it is a good idea or not i was thinkin if i did that i would be able to vent to the atmosphere... do you think it will work.?
 
you still wont be able to vent to atmosphere, only with a gm maf in blow thru setup can you do that
 
if you search you can find alot of info on this , but to condence it ALOT your maf read how much air is coming in, and as long as your BOV is recirculating everythings fine but when you vent to atmosphere that air is no longer in the system and your ECU thinks it is so it runs bad, with the gm maf in blow thru the maf reads the air after the BOV so even when venting to atmosphere the ECU knows the correct air flow. but since this isnt the correct maf for our car you need the translator to run it plus the tanslator has some other nice features
 
Yes the gm mas flows alot more air then the 1g mas. It also outflows the 2g mas but not by much. Alot of people say that a safc is needed to fine tune the system. Have you tried venting right now? Do it just as an experiment so you can see how your car will react. Some cars don't react well. Others are hardly affected by venting. Good luck.

im taking the head off this weekend thenim going from there... if there is lines in the cylinders im going to bore and replace bearings pistons and rings.... some other stuff also...

Also instead of a gm maf setup you could always just go with an SAFC and a 2nd Gen Maf (95-99 turbo eclipse) and use that as an upgrade.

Yeah it does make a sweet sound. My greddy whistles too though. I like it alot but the hks is bad ass too!
 
Yeah the hks is too exspensive in my opinion but if you have a fat wallet it will be like dropping a quarter in the gum ball machine. But yeah you do want the bov to be slightly open at idle or else it's pointless to recirculate. Some people think that if it leaks at idle it will leak under boost. Thats not true. Boost fills the vacuum lines and pushes the valve shut. Also since there is no vacuum under boost then there is nothing lifting up on the bov so it will stayed sealed.
