Aloha, Oregon
just picked up a car that has been a favorite of mine for years now.
its a 1991 galant VR4 1865/2000 it is missing the engine and trans. but im going to swap everything from my Talon to keep this guy on the road/track.
this will be a budget build for daily/track day use. goal hp 400-450 depending.
the front has minor damage so i decided it would be a good time to do a partial tube front end. then i would be able to relocate the radiator forward about 2-3 inches to accommodate a bigger HX35 turbo.

Shes not much to look at right now but i have plans for body work and black Paint.

Just to note I'm very amazed as to how heavy the jdm front bumper really is. I don't have the exact weight but compaired to doing the levin conversion on my old AE86 it's a night and day difference.

You sure it's just the rear subframe that's bent? just seems like if a beefy part like the rear end mounts are bent then the unitbody could be bent too. I would measure from front to rear mounts to make sure each are same distance from front.

amzing work mate, keep us posted.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I found the factory body measuments online and everything is within spec. It looks like the suspention arm took the hit and bent the mounting point.

Well a small update. I cleaned and painted the rear inner fenders semi gloss black. Also finished fabricating adjustable upper rear controll arms out of DOM. I drilled out two nuts and welded them to the arms. Took about 2 hrs to thread 4 ends due to how hard the Dom is haha. At least I shouldn't have any bent arms to worry about:)

wow your build way better then mine, Good job I like it. Nice to see people building GVR4s there really not a common build.

Hey thanks man. I have been wanting one ever since I was 18 working at a parts store. A guy came in with a dark red one super clean and had a huge spearco intercooler. It was clean and taistefull with a nice stance. The next day he brought in his turbo grand national. So needles to say I would like one of those also haha.

But really I'm excited to get this on the road soon.

i dont have my oun build thread going yet but i am for sure following yours to see what all im going to have to get done. mine isnt going on a track but i will for sure be doing some of the same stuff very soon. so keep the pictures coming... : )

I will defenitly have more pics up soon. Currently in the process of cleaning and detailing the body harness as well as the engine harness. Will need to extend some wires as well as repaire others that are broken and brittle.
