I'm new to forums but i have searched already. Just wanted to get that out the way. 99 spyder gs auto. I cannot find a thread with all my symptoms so here goes. I hope you guys still use this forum like y'all used to. Erratic shifting, p1750, hard shifting, dumping fluid only when running. Literally a small stream. More than dripping. Sometimes it feels like it's stuck in second gear and at 45mph im at like 3200 rpm. Drivers side motor mount replaced. Car sat for about a year. Dude said other mounts might be dry rotted too. This is my only car and I share it with my wife at the moment. Need some help asap please! Thanks in advance guys.

Let me update the above. Bought the car about three weeks ago. Problem started about a week ago but is increasingly lowering drivability.

I would first try to locate the leak and remedy that before anything else. If the mounts are bad pay attention to the transmission case where the mount brackets are bolted. I've seen the cases crack and leak (rare, but does happen). Also look at the seals and pan. Make sure no one bottomed the thing out and cracked anything else. The P1750 code is generally something to do with either the solenoid pack on top of the trans or (rarely again) the TCU under the console, but if its accompanied by a fluid leak that may be the issue in and as of itself. First fix the leak, then make sure the level is full (check it while warmed up and in PARK). If it was run too low for too long it's possible there was pump damage done to it as well as other internal damage. Also, check the transmission auxiliary cooler in front of the radiator and lines leading to and from. Those rot out easily. Smell the fluid coming out and see if it smells burnt (like wet, dead ass). See if it's brown in color. I would NOT suggest a transmission flush or filter change at this point either way, but it will give you more of the story. If it seems as though it's shifting ok and the code doesn't reappear, I would do a drain and fill as well as a filter change. Then run it, but be on the lookout for a replacement trans. Hope this helps...

Thank you, ive found the leak. Its coming from the bottom. Where the tranny meets the motor. Doesnt smell burnt either. On a side note. I have been searching for a used tranny but coming up short on that. I know some trannies will swap. Do you happen to know which ones?

If I remember correctly, I believe any 1997-1999 Eclipse, Talon, Dodge Avenger or Chrysler Sebring will fit as long as it's front wheel drive, non-turbo. That's the theory anyways. I always try to match year, make, model and engine if possible. I've been led astray by Hollander Interchange before, and that's what almost all junk yards and parts stores go by. If the fluid doesn't smell like an anchovie after a hot Tie-bo class, I would take the trans out and see if you can root around in there with a stick to see what's wrong. If it turns out being just a TC seal then it's worth just doing that and buttoning it back up to run. I would check the clutches, input and output shafts and all other wearable parts and bearings/surfaces to make sure though...

Thanks man. I actually found a great cross reference for it. The only problem that I can't seem to find a used one (can't afford a remanned). I've determined, with a small level of certainty, that its leaking from the input shaft. I have limited tools at the moment, and limited time. Tools are easy to come by, but the transmission is not. So it looks like I'll be teaching myself how to rebuild a trans. Any helpful tips or advice on where to start or who to talk to? Thanks.

Your problem: Mitsu auto seals can go bad, and your input shaft seal has. When you drive, the hydraulic pressure builds (1mph=1psi, roughly, with a minimum of 45 psi). That's why your trans leaks when it's running, and sprays when you are driving. Unfortunately, large leaks like yours -- and the one we had in the Mighty Max -- drops the fluid level as you drive. As the fluid level gets low, it leaves key components without lubrication, and it feels like the brakes are dragging.

Your project: "Limited tools and limited time" are not going to get your trans rebuilt. In addition to a good selection of tools, and a few special ones. If you haven't rebuilt a tranny before, you won't be able to rush this. If this is your shared DD, keep shopping this forum, and/or contact Stephen Miller at Miller Imports to get you a lower mileage trans, and be done with it.
