Ok gotcha in the specific turbo you need there. Well quinn, we will be running a 2.0L with ours. We have the true 2 step with AEM and if we need to will use antilag. We are also using a dogbox so hopefully that will help keep her spooled. We are also revving the car to as much as 10000-11000 rpm. Hoping not to go more than 9500, but the motor has been prepared to handle those kinds of stress levels.

By the way, 2.0L's rule.

Steven

A local put a GT42 on his Supra, and it spooled at 7k rpms on his 2jz. Good luck shifting at 11k rpms.

Shifting problems at high rpms are old news, there are a few options out there to solve the problem, everybody knows that. Nobody cares about some guy with a Supra that doesn't know how to set up his car properly. AMS and Shep both get full boost around 6k with 2.0 liter engines. Don't post useless information.

Yeah, because 862HP at the wheels means the car was setup improperly. I'm not saying he CANT shift at 11k rpms, I am saying that its not going to be easy.

Not sure if you have tried Full-Race yet or not, but I was on thier site earlier and seen that they listed the Gt4202 and I do believe they were instock. Didn't see them mention so I just thought I would give you a heads up.

If it takes until 7000 rpms to spool the turbo he did not set it up properly. Supras can't rev, so he has maybe 2000 rpms of powerband if he's lucky. And 862whp on a Supra is nothing. Go to the AEM forums and look at all of the 1100 whp Supras with GT42's. Making 280 hp per liter with a Supra, compared to making 450-500 whp per liter with a DSM. The Supra isn't even in the ballpark.

So again we don't care about the Supra, do you have anything useful to contribute?

I already hooked chris up. The turbo is on its way to my shop first. This was my first order with my garrett supplier and they carry two dozen 4202Rs with every option available at all times not to mention the famed 40R. We will see how long of a lead time it takes me to get it as my supplier is not very far away.

and a'who, are a'you?

Quinn, we are going to use a dogbox. Shifting should be no problem. We will get her to spool and probably have from at least 6000-9500 of full spool. Have faith.

Hey, if you can pull it off more power to you. I'll be at Bandimere plenty this season, so I expect you to let me know when you swing by there.

Oh, and 6k spool would suck ass on a street car. I dont care what the peanut gallery says. Good thing this isnt a street car.

Nope she's a trailer queen. It sees slight street use. Tara drives it when she comes home sometimes. We will be at bandimere on april 15 for the day test.

Steven

I may or may not be there for the day test. Kids do make things difficult to schedule.

PhatTSI, I called them and they was out,atp was out,FP was out, and the people that was sapposed to call back never did, Glenn was well in contact, kept me updated, and cut me a helluva deal.

As far as lag, I dont see why it wont spool@6000 rpm, and it is a street/strip car. For the track I have 2step, for the street I have nitrous. Only time she will be on a trailor is when she is going to a event, or..... its broke. Either way it will make it on the trailor plenty.

But I would like to thank everyone who chimed in on this post, and Innovative Motorsports
for helping me out.

I will get pics up when it gets here:rocks:

Why is everyone so set on the ball bearing option? The ball bearing turbos don't spool up any faster than the non-ball bearing turbos. The only advantage you gain is between shifts but even then I don't know if the price difference really justifies the slight advantage.

If someone is going to say I am wrong bring your proof with you.

Are you exempt from your own rules?

im going to agree with the people who make these turbos over the guy pulling info out of his ass. ever run two identical turbos with different center sections (aka a g50 vs a dbb g50) at the same exact boost and logged the rpm you saw it at?

I didn't think so, thats like saying aerodynamics or weight loss won't help your car at all, since it doesn't make any more power.

HAHAHA!LOL That's funny. And true.

Get bag of marbles and throw them all on the floor. Now get a running start and jump on them. . .

. . .There's your proof:toobad: .

More proof:

--Basic Turbo Tech: Part 1
--Winning Indy 500 race cars
--Ball Bearing vs. Journal Bearing

All I can say is I am sold on BB turbos. My turbo arived today well packaged and as promiced. This big monster will turn ALOT with just a small flick of the fingers . Thanks Glenn for the turbo, and everyone else that has chimed in on the thread.:rocks:

Just a little update thought I would post a pic of it and the new little intercooler I got.

Just to interject, I have done that. I ran a G50 (tnetics CHRA) and now run the PTE 5031RE DBB turbo with a garrett CHRA. Shifts are definitely holding more boost and she spools a good 2-300 rpms faster with the crappy tune I have right now. So there is your "proof" from my experience. I don't believe I have any reason to BS at all either. btw, the rpm difference was @ 20 psi from 4000 rpms to 3700 rpms.

I figure there will be a differance, and the BB turbo was not a big deal before, but I figure there is a differance between a smaller turbo/wheels and bigger turbo/wheels on spool. I am going to have to cut part of the glove box out maybe all but the door to get it to fit in the dash. But I will try to get some decent pics up.
