Ok, so im deployed to iraq. been scouring my home town and surrounding areas for a gsx...
i found one. 1995 gsx. $4200, decent body nothing major, small penny size rust spots on front edge of hood... faded paint on mirrors and in engine bay,
previous owner has papers for factory engine rebuild 60k miles ago.

listed all of this:
Bolt-on Modifications:
EvoIII 16g Turbo Tube manifold Evo10 fuel pump Adjustable FPR AEM Intake FMIC/ Hard piping 3'' turbo back exhaust ebay bov ebay boost controller

Engine Management:
DSMLINK V3 Innovate LC-1 Wideband Autometer Carbon Boost Gauge

Engine Internals:
Port and Polished 850cc injectors

Drivetrain Modifications:
Ceramic 6Puck clutch #2100

Suspension Modifications:
NITTO NeoGens Ebay struts

so i had my father go buy it for me, and he said it checks out, needs cleaned up a little bit and some minor tlc. nothing to major that i haven't seen b4. said it pulls hard (but my father has never driven anything besides a stock cavalier :| )

the guys got stock suspension and small 15's on it.
ive looked around, and everyone seems to have 18X7.5 or so,
so im probably gonna go with a size like that, unless anyone else has any info on why i should or should not...

stock suspension needs replaced, id like to lower it, but that depends on the rim/tire size, so unsure on how low i can go, camber (camber kits?), etc. ideas? links?

guy claimed with manual boost controller turned up to around 18psi it would push over 300hp with the setup it has now. any truth to this? expect more or less? and is it safe? ive looked at other peoples builds and i everyone has either fewer mods, or alot more done than what this has, no one really had anything like i do.

and 850cc injectors? um yeah that doesn't sound right?

i dont get to see the car in person for another month.
in the mean time i have to order a new manual boost controller...
other one got taken apart, parts lost?

not that big of a deal. guy claimed its only pushing 8psi...
this leads me to think there may be a leak. etc. where should i check,
and if there is, was an affordable way to fix it?

if this thing will put down 300hp (or so claimed)

what else could be done for this thing to put 400-450...
new to dsms, but not new to turbos...
i dont want to go all out and build it from the ground up,
id like a nice daily driver that gets down when need be.
cams pistons etc? id like it to be fairly cheap,
was thinking head studs, so i can push 20+ psi but not sure if thats the only thing...

any help would be greatly appreciated,
ill go ahead and apologize if by any chance this is in the wrong thread. i had searched, but being in iraq i don't have much time for this-.
thank you.

btw my pictures are too big, how do i resize and post them?

First of all you need to verify the car has all of these mods. With an EVO 3, 850cc injectors and DSMLink 300whp is VERY easy to achieve. I would check to see that the head has actually been ported and polished. This is an easy thing to say has been done because it's hard for a buyer to actually check. As for the boost controller I would recommend picking up a Hallman. Can't beat the quality. Until you can verify all the parts on the car are correct and it doesn't have any boost leaks I would stick to wastegate pressure. Also you will want to register on the DSMLink forums for any help you may need tuning. Hopefully he gave you the software and cables he had with the car. Verify it's a true EVO 3 16g and not a knockoff. Verify the brand and size of the injectors too. To push the power you wanna push you are going to need to build the shortblock to have any reliability. I would recommend maxing out your setup now and going from there. Everyone wants to jump into making gobs of power without taking care of first things first. Do your maintenance parts and get the car running smoothly with what you have now.

Open the pictures with paint..A couple tabs over you can resize/reswew..Just hit 50%, and 50% and they should be small enough to post..The thing is with these cars you can hit 300hp with very little mods..But I'm guessing it has a hell of a tune of it tho..I think you have paid too much, but if its low milage than it might be worth it..But I think the guy was upping the price for the money he put in to mod it..YOu rarely never get your money back on mods, but looks like this guy did..

receipts for almost every mod is there. cables and cds are there, port and polish, i wont know till im home. but how could i verify it's a true EVO 3 16g and not a knockoff??
and for the injectors, i cant tell from the pictures and my wife isnt car savy,
as for leaks, um know of any links for leak testing? areas to check and how to?
and yeah i figured i had payed alittle too much for it,
wanted to wait until i came home,
but with the circumstances i dont have time to be running around looking for a car, needed it now.
and im working on those pictures right now.

If you take off the two bolts that hold the lower Intercooler piping, there will either be serial numbers or a stanmped plate..If its a stamped plate it will say turbocharger dsm evo3..Real mits turbos don't say turbocharger on them..I'll give you the serial numbers for the mits turbo's..
Check the numbers to finf out what turbo it is..It's that simple..As for injectors you could either check dsmlink it will be set up for whatever injectors are in the car..Or look on the side of the injector the number of what cc they are should be on there..

Ohh and one more little tip..Get rid of the ebay bov asap..And also get new clamps then hold on the top coolant hose..Those ones are crap..And I can't tell from the pics if thats a real evo 3 or not..So you will have to check when you get home..Make sure you get all the receipts for everything he has, for your references, and ease of mind..And also ask him when the last time timing belt and water pump was done, and get the receipts if there are any..

he said all the receipts he has are in the glove box...
ebay bov, i was thinking the same thing, i would like to order one now to install when i get home, but unsure of fitting/ clamp kinda sol on that.
kinda had a little wish list started on thing i want/ need to buy, (bov, MBC, suspension, rims and tires)

I would just buy a 1g bov, and see if the flange is the same..It's the cheapest bov you can buy, besides ebay..But will hold up alot longer..And you can mod it to handle 30psi..I personally love those rims, I have a set in storage just like those..Motegi mr7 if I can remember correctly..But I would suggest getting a better than stock supension..It will look much meaner being dropped..As far as the clamps you can get good ones at your local auto parts store or home depot..There cheap, you can even buy a set with a couple different diameters..
The MBC I think alot of people like the hallman MBC..

I would just buy a 1g bov.....

see thats the thing, from the pics it looks like it is held on by 2 bolts, not a vband or anything like that. so it may be stock mounting,
but does 2g and 1g holes match up? cause if so i might as well just buy an aftermarket one.

the rims dont look bad, but they look tiny,
and the clamps, yeah i should have a few lying around.

hey btw thanx for all the help, ive been anxious to get home and see her, but now im kinda in the "looking for more" phase
so after getting a new bov, and mbc, and doing all the boost leak test, clean it up alittle bit, i should be good to go for awhile. then suspension etc,

really think a 1st gen bov is worth it, or should i just get an aftermarket one,
and if so is the mod reliable?

A properly crushed 1g bov can hold around 24psi. Definitely worth it for how cheap they are

By looking at the mounting I don't think it will match up. That ebay BOV is more rounded. But I could be completely wrong but I'm gonna guess no it won't match up.

Did you really buy a car without actually seeing it for yourself?

actually, yes, yes i did as stated in my first post...

being in the military, when im home i dont have time to dick around with searching for a car, looking at it, and doing all that shit. so how bout you quit flaming. i have other priorities to take care of when im home, and getting a car wasnt major so i had my father pick it up, its not like i had ebay ship it or anything.

and ghost yeah ill probly pick me up a welder and a new flange.

Yea from the pic it doesn't look like a 1g bov will fit but im not 100% sure!? Looks like the eBay bov flange is more rounded.

yeah im probly gonna check a few yards for that intake pipe with a 1st gen flange on it, or even the whole assembly, which leads me to wander if its the same pipe on the 1st gen and 2ng gen... being its recirculated, it had to be close to the stock position so maybe i can get away with a stock pipe.

dam list is increasing...
MBC
BOV
INTAKE PIPE
suspension..
may have to stick with the 15's for awhile.

o and looking closer at the pics, there omni 15's with nitto neogens

Everything that has been said so far is accurate, HOWEVER :), I would not go with a 1G BOV and then try "crushing" it if you want more boost. From what you're saying from your posts, you want power and looks. And I'm willing to bet that as you're finishing the car you will want a nice bov sitting on top, "do it right or do it twice."

I also think that if the interior is clean and all the mods are legit you got a decent deal.

The BOV is a greddy type S knock off so wouldn't a greddy type S bov fit on the same flange?

I did the same thing as you when I was in Iraq back in the early 2000's. I spent endless amounts of money at Forced performance and extreme psi over the internet LOL.

Sounds kinda like what i did on my first deployment. I bought a 1993 mustang GT on leave and had my dad start working on it while i was in iraq and then to come home and its in the same condition as i left cause he said he "Didnt have time to work on it" when i told him countless times to work on it when he has spare time

yeah def think im just going to get something like a hks with a recirculation fitting, and then get a small piece of intercooler piping with the flange for it, put it up with two rubber boots and clamps, and go from there.
the interior is good, floor of driver is dirty, but it had floor mats when i got it so not a big deal, the passenger side airbag cover is pealing up in all 4 corners, but the guy included a brand new airbag for it, so all i have to do is swap them out,
i didnt think i over payed too much, i was trying to get it off home for 3700, but with brand new stainless exhaust and the airbad i just went with the 4200.. not too bad if you look at what some of the others are going for.

but i did come up with a new plan, use this as my daily driver.
and instead of building my integra... goodbye jdm, hello dsm, i think im going to get another dsm and see how much power i can get out of it... i know thats completly off the topic of this thread... but the dsm bug caught me and jdm just isnt cutting it anymore. hell if the second one gets built right, i might just sell the 95. dam alone time in iraq is killing me... too many thoughts and ideas.

I see you're not real sure where to go exactly with your build. First thing's first is to pick a goal. From there you've got the 3 options everyone building a car has- fast, reliable, cheap. Pick 2 and go from there.

Build a nice 1G with the flip up headlights! ive always thought those were NICE!

well heres the thing, i didnt start my build.
goal is something around 400hp...
just kinda wanna keep uping it,
i figured with a better BOV and boost controller
(along with some maintanence and suspension)
ill have around 300 or so... with current set up
figured after i push that to the max im going to up it to say 400 or 450,
maybe a 20g turbo or something like that...
idk ive been reading up on others builds, and all this seems very achievable with the way its set up now... so idk.
and i kinda want all 3 LOL... but if its 2, reliable and fast,
cheap things get me know where...

Build a nice 1G with the flip up headlights! ive always thought those were NICE!

LOL i was actually thinking something like that... just a complete sleeper that everyone will talk shit about cause its so old...
hell my honda friends hate me now... but thats ok...

btw my pictures are too big, how do i resize and post them?

If you want I have another Greddy Type S BoV in good condition in my garage I can sell you PM if your interested.

Also I honestly prefer coilovers for my suspension because I like the Handling but if your only looking for a drop get some KYB AGX adjustables with some eibach pro sport or look for some coilovers for around the same price. I love my tein SS coilovers on mine I can take turns pretty fast but I still need more suspension mods

With leaks, do a boost leak test generally its just a coupler thats loose or worn that you would need to replace so not too much with a boost leak. Could also be gaskets so yea.

Also you can Camber your rear wheels for like 10$ from your local hardware store so its pretty easy. The front I think you need adjustable control arms but I think I might be wrong on the terminology for the front to get cambered.

Another thing go with 17" , 18" rims are pushing it and it starts getting to the point where theres no reason towards getting them and sometimes 18" look big for our cars. IMHO I prefer 17"'s over everything else its a good size rim but you DON'T need to get low profile tires because of wheel rub

EDIT
Another thing you can be cheap reliable and fast you just have to get lucky. I got a full turbo back 3" greddy evo 2 exhaust, apexi FMIC, Tein SS Coilovers w/damper, New rims and wheels, 2 greddy type s BoV, My 2gb conversion with headlights, Intake with filter and by getting ALLLLL of this I MADE 900$ LOL. The other money I have put into the car has been going towards maintenece and just recently towards more tuning based things
