Ok, so im deployed to iraq. been scouring my home town and surrounding areas for a gsx...
i found one. 1995 gsx. $4200, decent body nothing major, small penny size rust spots on front edge of hood... faded paint on mirrors and in engine bay,
previous owner has papers for factory engine rebuild 60k miles ago.

listed all of this:
Bolt-on Modifications:
EvoIII 16g Turbo Tube manifold Evo10 fuel pump Adjustable FPR AEM Intake FMIC/ Hard piping 3'' turbo back exhaust ebay bov ebay boost controller

Engine Management:
DSMLINK V3 Innovate LC-1 Wideband Autometer Carbon Boost Gauge

Engine Internals:
Port and Polished 850cc injectors

Drivetrain Modifications:
Ceramic 6Puck clutch #2100

Suspension Modifications:
NITTO NeoGens Ebay struts

so i had my father go buy it for me, and he said it checks out, needs cleaned up a little bit and some minor tlc. nothing to major that i haven't seen b4. said it pulls hard (but my father has never driven anything besides a stock cavalier :| )

the guys got stock suspension and small 15's on it.
ive looked around, and everyone seems to have 18X7.5 or so,
so im probably gonna go with a size like that, unless anyone else has any info on why i should or should not...

stock suspension needs replaced, id like to lower it, but that depends on the rim/tire size, so unsure on how low i can go, camber (camber kits?), etc. ideas? links?

guy claimed with manual boost controller turned up to around 18psi it would push over 300hp with the setup it has now. any truth to this? expect more or less? and is it safe? ive looked at other peoples builds and i everyone has either fewer mods, or alot more done than what this has, no one really had anything like i do.

and 850cc injectors? um yeah that doesn't sound right?

i dont get to see the car in person for another month.
in the mean time i have to order a new manual boost controller...
other one got taken apart, parts lost?

not that big of a deal. guy claimed its only pushing 8psi...
this leads me to think there may be a leak. etc. where should i check,
and if there is, was an affordable way to fix it?

if this thing will put down 300hp (or so claimed)

what else could be done for this thing to put 400-450...
new to dsms, but not new to turbos...
i dont want to go all out and build it from the ground up,
id like a nice daily driver that gets down when need be.
cams pistons etc? id like it to be fairly cheap,
was thinking head studs, so i can push 20+ psi but not sure if thats the only thing...

any help would be greatly appreciated,
ill go ahead and apologize if by any chance this is in the wrong thread. i had searched, but being in iraq i don't have much time for this-.
thank you.
A

btw my pictures are too big, how do i resize and post them?

uhh yeah id be interested in it.. sent pm,
and yeah being dropped isnt high on my list but def need those 17''s then..
i read the mod bought adding the washers for camber, and such...
so idk i have a decent project when i get back... idk if i want the identity crisis of a 97-99 front end, but i do like the more agressive look so idk...

The front and back end are worth it its a far better look IMO and it only takes about an hour to do for the entire thing. You do need 2gb headlights as well though

well heres the thing, i didnt start my build.
goal is something around 400hp...
just kinda wanna keep uping it,
i figured with a better BOV and boost controller
(along with some maintanence and suspension)
ill have around 300 or so... with current set up
figured after i push that to the max im going to up it to say 400 or 450,
maybe a 20g turbo or something like that...
idk ive been reading up on others builds, and all this seems very achievable with the way its set up now... so idk.
and i kinda want all 3 LOL... but if its 2, reliable and fast,
cheap things get me know where...

My goal when I started back in 2003 was to be able to beat a ZO6 on the highway...the problem with my goal is that it increased in power EVERY year...so my goal changes from year to year...hell now I have to step it up to be faster than a ZR1 :)

Nice car man, it sucks having that arab money eating at you. seems like you have a good place to start. like everyone said basic maintenance before anything. Do a compression and leak down test before you start cranking up boost. Also make sure you have a good tune before you go too far with it.

The BOV is a greddy type S knock off so wouldn't a greddy type S bov fit on the same flange?

I did the same thing as you when I was in Iraq back in the early 2000's. I spent endless amounts of money at Forced performance and extreme psi over the internet LOL.

well i fixed my problem with the blow off valve, got a pm, guy contacted me with piping with BOV attached...
hks ssqv

yeah... the little down time i get here just sucks, so since they got the internet working i find my self scouring the internet for anything and everything, or stuck on youtube.
my dad generally does all the labor for his car, but if its something other than wheels brakes stock engine parts things of that nature... he wont touch it,
and i want the chance to mess it up b4 he does LOL. besides i had to explain what a turbo is and how it works... so he def is working on my car.

yeah i read up on this too... idk i think ill go for power first then if i get the time or money swap them...

hell yeah that would be sick... i may have to borrow those goals...

yes it does.. but i got in under control now.
and thats hopefully the plan... id like to clean up the engine bay alot,
theres alittle rust, but not that big of a deal, along with old lines etc... so i want to start with all the important things, cant have a monster engine sitting inside a crappy bay full of rust and carnage, thats just asking for a disaster
