I just posted a video on you tube showing problems. Title is same as this post title. Lights dim when brake pushed. Gets brighter when going. The mpi relay was checked and its good, learned that on dsmtuners. Checked voltage at battery terminals while running. 13.8 - 14.1v. Checked every fuse in the car. Brand new battery terminals installed correctly. Newer battery bout a year old. The car is lagging and has lost some major get up and go all of the sudden. The fuel pump is whining and its just a stock pump, and when i turn on the blinker it sounds like a cop car kind of sound. So i have an electrical problem and if anyone has some good ideas or has been through this personally, help me out. Im headed to century link field tomorrow in seatown for a eric church concert so hoping to get some good suggestions to try before i drive the corolla (woo hoo) all the way to seattle. Thanks guys. With engine off what is battery voltage both when brake is pressed and not pressed? Also voltage at lights doing same?
Sounds like you've got a high resistance connection somewhere dropping voltage. Remove battery cables and clean (sand off) terminals on both ends of both cables and where they attach, - then re-attach and tighten them. If not that, perhaps a partial short when brake pedal is pressed - start by unplugging lights to see effect.

Looks like most everything in the car is getting reduced voltage, so it should be relatively close to the battery.

You can check battery voltage across the negative terminal to various grounds. It should be zero or very low. If there's voltage, it means the grounds aren't great. You can also do the same thing with the positive side. Work your way out on each side to a component getting poor voltage and you'll find your problem.

You can also work your way away from the battery checking a positive and negative. The battery voltage may be good, but do a nearby ground and positive terminal make the same voltage?
 
Thanks for the top notch replies guys and im gonna get on checking those things soon as i get off work. Yea its definitely near the battery somewhere. I look at it this way, at least i know its electricity problem. Thats half the battle right there.
 
Hey there hope that you have found the problem to your issues by now. If you have not I would definitely go with checking the ground connections. I was having the same type of problem with everything kind of going crazy and dim and what not. At first I thought it was my alternator not working and when I tested it output was very low. Replaced it with one I had chillin in the garage but no change. Story short it ended up being the main ground from the battery to the frame. It had started rubbing and chewed through most of the cable. Fixed the cable and boom power was restored to all systems
