i have a 1997 eclipse gsx automatic and was wondering what is the best oil to use to change the t case and diff and tranny? i read up and it said something about gl4 and gl5? could someone please explain those to me? thanks, just picked this car up and wanted to know the best fluids to use and it being automatic not sure if manual and auto fluids are the same.

You need to use a gl-4 or higher fluid in the transfer and the rear end. Basically, in gl-x , x designates the load the fluid can take higher the # the better for those items. Facroy calls for 75w-85 gl-4 or higher, but weights not that critical long as its very close. you can't even find gl-4 out in the world anymore, and like said gl-5 is fine.

I would recommend redline shockproof heavy for both the transfer case and rear end, best fluid I've ran.

As far as the automatic tranny's, I've always ran mitsu diaqueen, someone else hopefully has more input here.
