Gst with transmission issues ### help.

Ok so I have searched all over the forums and havent found any answers to what is going on with a car im looking at buying. Its a 2g 96 gst with an automatic transmission. The dude says the transmission was rebuilt last month and it drove fine for awhile but now its not wanting to drive when put into gear until you rev the car up to around 4-6k rpm. He is claiming its the torque converter but im really not sure and couldnt find anything in the searches I have done. Please help im supposed to go look at it tomorrow. Thanks

I know this should be obvious, but check the transmission fluid first: if there is not enough fluid it will do that. The torque converter can cause that, also. Have you asked him where he got the transmission rebuilt? I'm sure if it is a decent shop they will take a look at it in order to keep a good reputation.

It very well could be the torque converter, but i wouldnt chance it. I would take his asking price and minus the amount it would take to replace the transmission, and call it a deal. That way you have the extra cash to replace the tranny if needed.

He said another local dsmer did the transmission. I got him to take 300 of his asking price. And he says he checked the tranny fluid and still no cure there. So im hoping its just the torque converter.
