I know one of you guys might know if I were to buy a gst shell, if I could swap out the parts from my 1995 eagle talon tsi awd and complete the full conversion ? Is there a different between the fwd gst shell and my talon awd shell to prevent the conversion?

Besides cutting some holes to fit some awd bolts for the sub-frame. There are not really much difference.

you will have to swap the 2 rear bolts to the longer awd bolts. And the front ones have to be moved forward for the sub frame. You will also have to weld on the drive shaft carrier mount brackets. Everything else is pretty much bolt in though.

No, he is planning on picking up a nice shell of a buddy of mine. I was thinking of getting it later to make it a dedicated track and autocross car.

It's tight, just would need a lot of work to make it a fully functional daily driver.

Good luck and have fun with it!

Yeah you can use the talon parts to convert the gst to an awd.

The only thing that would really be hard to swap is the talon rear bumpers and tails.

The awd swap has been documented in multiple places, and the talon tsi awd / eclipse gsx are mechanically interchangeable. Only rear differences are the bumper fascias/tail lights/ spoilers/ etc. They are cosmetically different.

It should work as long as you have all the parts.

If you need some talon parts, I have all the parts for converting it to a 98 tsi. I know because I have the bumpers from the shell for my conversion. Just drop me a line on here.

just a couple tips, get a good spot weld cutting bit, you can see how clean it drilled the awd bracket off the gsx in the pic. The other pic show how i hacked up the car to get to the subframe bolts, thats ok, it got junked but i measured from multiple points so when it was time for the holes in my car, i knew exactly where to drill with a hole saw, it was alot cleaner, welded the cutouts right back in place after. you need a good welder because those brackets have to be straight and strong, they hold the driveshaft and exhaust up. make sure your subframe is clean too, I wound up buying another one because the one in that gsx had heavy rust from salt on top where you can't see when its on the car, looked really clean until I dropped it.
