Looking into buying ground control coil overs for my 1g. I have AGXs already on the car. Would like to know what kind of spring rates people are running. My car weighs 3000 with me in it and i'm still taking some weight of out it. This car is mainly a drag car, but i do want to drive it on the street a little and maybe try it on a road course if I find the time. Mainly want to set it up for drag racing. I have been told to try and get the rear rate around 550-600 but don't know what fronts to couple that with or if thats even the right rate. Thanks

Bumping this thread. I'd like to know also.

Don't be afraid to give Ground Control themselves a call. Tell them your goals and they'll recommend you spring rates for both the front and back. They know what they are talking about.

To throw it out there, my car is a daily driver and I wanted more comfort, so they recommended 375 in front and 300 in the rear.

I have AGX/GC in the rear with a 350lb spring rate; the rear is STIFF on anything but full soft on the struts.

I do agree that a call to GC is a good idea. They are super helpful.

I bit the bullet and ordered some custom rates:

Front- 8 inch 380lbs/inch
Rear- 10inch 450lbs/inch

I will be installing these soon to see how they do on my car.

I've been thinking about getting some GC coilovers as well but for my 2G AWD. Curious as to where you ordered them to be able to get custom rates.
Were custom springs more expensive?
When you say to call Ground Control do you have a number for them?
I'd like to have my spring rates more setup towards roadracing so I'd imagine they'd be pretty stiff.

You can get custom rates through GC, go on there website to get there number and give them a call.
Same price for the custom rates, but they wont let you return used springs if they are the wrong rate.

Very Helpful thread. Going to give them a call and get some ordered for my car.

I have a set of DSS drag coilovers, believe it had Hypercoil springs. 350 ft and 500 rear. On AGX's it drives solid and smooth. Never been a fan of coilovers for a street car but with a full weight 94 TSI AWD they are working. Have not drag raced them, yet.
