I got a problem with the tranny grinding when I shift. If I push down the clutch hit 2nd then hit first quickly I don't usually get a grind. The car has an ACT 2600 in it. It'll grunt into most any gear. The trick seems to be quick about pushing in the stick after you hit the clutch.

This guy swears up and down that the hose just needs to be upgraded to a stainless steel line. He says you can see the old rubber line flex and this causes it. He said he had to do it to his car. He has a lot of time on working with DSMs he has a couple. He said if I were to stick a stock clutch in the problem with disapear with out replacing the line.

My question is what are the chances this is the actual problem. I mean I'm going to go and order one up and install it but with the problem with DSM trannies I'm a bit skeptical. The guy seems pretty on the ball, I hate to doubt him but it just seems too easy.

Hah, on the other hand. How much do most shops charge to replace a transmission? If it don't work I'm going to have to take it into a shop and have it looked at. I'm just thinking I don't have the skills to mess around with clutches and trannies. I''ve done my timing belt and stuff but I'm still learning how to do things myself.

that all sounds about right...the ss line will help, but the 2600+ pressure plates are hard on the clutch actuation system, so just having that in there can cause other problems...

the ss line may or may not cure the problem...

also, if you have a rebuilt trans put in, make sure the trans comes from a "dsm shop"...make sure it is TRE or Shep or someone like that...I recommend TRE myself...

good luck man

Right on about the tranny rebuild. Thats why I was asking about prices people have paid. Obviously I'll be checking around myself if things don't happen like I hope. If I get an idea of how much shops might charge to do the work I know how much I can spend on a transmission if it comes down to that.
