I always meant to ask this but I keep forgetting. A local guy that drives an Integra type R says it's better to grind your clutch and then release it. What I mean by that is for example to press in your clutch while your in gear( but not fully disengaging it) rev and release it again. Is there any benefits from it? I'm sure its not good for your drive-terrain as well. Thanks in advance.

No that is bad, clutch grinding=heat, heat= warp :thumbdown then No Cltuch grabbing flywheel. You'll warp the clutch and the flywheel ultimately costing you lots of money. Don't listen to him cluthes are made for grabbing not grinding :dsm:

Perhaps what your little friend means is to "slip" the clutch.

Clutches don't grind.

Is this your friend's portrait?

You can't "grind" a clutch. You can grind the gears in the transmission, but not the clutch.

Slipping the clutch eliminates the initial shock from launching the car, in essence preloading the drivetrain for the onslaught that's about to come. Our transmissions have a history of failing due to abuse and simply being old and worn out over time.

he's an integra driver, not only does he think he's king of the world, but he sounds like an idiot

Ha nice portrait Defiant , does look like him a bit to tell you the truth. What I mean by grinding the clutch ( I dont know what else to call it ). I'm not talking about slipping the clutch on a launch. For example he took me on a ride and lets say hes at 40 thats when he does the slipping/grinding thing. I havent tried it, but Id like to make sure I'm correct when I tell him he's a Duddits.

I think you are talking about using the inertia from revving the motor and then dumping the clutch to have what feels to be more power for taking someone on a rolling start... Well it is only advantagous on a rolling start and if you are putting out good power and already have the turbo spooled this will just hurt you and possiblily your wallet...

yeah, don't do it. he's just a honda idiot who thinks fast&furious3 is his new testament.

OH! I think I know what it's called. At the track I go to I hear the Honduh kiddies try to shift like a racer and it kinda goes like this; you hear the revs increase as the car slowly accellerates in gear, then at the top of the gear you hear the throttle close as they shift, then you hear the motor rev up again and the revs slowly fall as the clutch is engaged. We call it the Ricer Shift.

It takes twice as long to shift like that, and it'll fry your clutch.

Lmao, c'mo kid. You double cluftin, granny shaggin...its not if you done won it by an inch or a kilometer dawg, its yo mad intake dat matta's. Only pro's use nos and be careful or else him and da mad scien tist will havva rip apart the block to fix those pcv valve bolts you just fried and the welds on your cut springs.

Seriously though people, my friend has had 2 integra's and they both grind in 3rd gear. I think thats just the way honduh owners think their cars are supposed to shift.

All hail Honduh! Maker of mighty lawn mower engines!
