Hey guys need your help
Just got my car back from the shop..Rebuilt Head and Shortblock new clutch also..
well when he took my engine apart he told me my trans needed to be rebuilt because i had a rattle noise at first before i took it to the shop...well i gave him another trans that i bought..he put it on...so i get my dad to pickup the car from the shop and he said it feels like its grinding...so i get in and take it up the street and 1st gear it grinds when accelerating...i dont think its supension because when i put it in neutral its fine..it also pops into gear sort of if i come off the clutch smooth then its fine..i just want to know what could the grinding noise could be and am i messing up anything...The way i see it...New Engine..New Clutch...Used Transmission

thanks

Any other gears? Maybe third? Could be adjustment. Knee jerk reaction, with the info given, is first gear has problem but need a little more info about other gears. I have other thoughts but first, any other gears?

2nd and 3rd...now ive just notice around 60 mph in 4th gear the steering wheel shakes like crazy i dont know if that has anything to do with it...but it wasnt doing that at first either..and yea no pop when engage clutch smooth

does it sound like the gears are grinding? does the car still pull hard while the noise is happening, or does it seem to not move much?

drain the fluid (hopefully theres fluid in there) and check for shavings/chunks. refill with mopar. BTW: you can epoxy a small magnet to the end of the drain plug to catch metal, makes for an easy inspection.

did you look at the side gears in the new diff before you gave it to the mechanic? Or could one have fallen during the pull/ship/install? i'd pull your axles and give the differential a quick look. inspect the splines on the axle shafts while they're out.

steering wheel shaking could be ALOT of things (bad tie ends, bearings, cv joints, out of balance tire, etc...) Its best to take things apart and start checking them.

still pulls hard...noise stays..will have them check out the trans still under labor warranty
