Called FP to ask if the green needed water lines connected to it. They said it is optional. Was wondering if running them would help with the turbo life?

Cartridges without the coolant passages have more oil passage volume. With good oil changed regularly, you shouldn't need the coolant lines and the extra oil capacity will help the bearings (this is what I was told by FP when I bought my Green years ago).

Okay, so I bought new OEM water line because i was told that they would work on the green. They don't come close because of the bigger housing. Could someone please explain to me why running coolant lines are optional? I would think it would be better to run them vs. not, however they said that it isn't really necessary? Why isn’t it? Could you reply on the oil alone to cool and lubricate it?? Please let me know, because I want to get this turbo on ASAP, but i do not want to not use the coolant line and risk hurting it.

Any suggestion would help, what did the people who run the green use, and how did it work out for them?

If its going to bother you just throw them on it will take an extra 5 mins to throw them on.

OEM lines work fine. I've used them on a 20g, Green, FP3065,...

They're not really optional if the housing has coolant fittings. It's optional in the sense that you can get the housing "Dry", meaning no coolant passages.

There are 2 types of CHRAs - Dry and Wet.

Dry - runs only on oil and uses oil for cooling and lubrication.
Wet - runs on oil and coolant and uses oil for lubrication and coolant for cooling.

The FP Green can ordered as a dry or wet turbo. If you get a dry CHRA, I recommend the use of a turbo timer.

I would use the coolant lines personally. I don't like to sit in my car for too long (no turbo timer). It would heat up your coolant temps though, that's the only downside I can really think of besides the possibility of leaks.
