ok guys i just bought a greddy type s from this kid i bring it home go to bolt it on...no problem right...well i put it on and it sounds like total crap, all i hear is that damn turkey noise...the fluttering i'm sure we've all heard??
well i messed with the screw on top a little bit but if thats not right could that cause it to do that? i think that it's stripped a little and it won't put pressure on the top of it is this true?

You need to set the screw to the right point (the hard/soft screw). Do a search for 'compressor surge,' and you'll get a LOT of helpful threads. Basically what you want to do is have the screw as 'hard' as you can without having compressor surge, which is a 'chuh chuh chuh.' The fluttering you're getting means it's too soft.

yeah but that bolt on top stripped out is what i'm saying, i had my friend come over who worked at www.automotosports.com so i mean he knows his shit, he says to put a bigger thread bolt in there and try adn get it tighter cuz he said basically the same thing you did...the bov is flappin around cuz it's too loose

You know you have to loosen the bolt part that the nut is on with an allen wrench, not just screw the nut on harder, right?

LOL yeah i know, ya had to ask i guess there are just people out there like that. . but yeah seiroulsy i did that the threads for that bolt were stripped so we took the bolt out completly and ran a bigger bolt through it, but what your saying is though if it's not down tight enough it will cause it to flutter like that?? will it also casue it to not get that nice piercing sound?? cuz it didn't make any good sounds at all

Yeah, the fluttering means it's too soft.. what I did when I first got my type-s was set it as hard as it would go, then took my allen wrench and reg wrench and went driving. I'd get the BOV going a bit, it'd still show compressor surge, so I'd loosen it up a quarter turn, go drive around again, and repeated that until it came to the nice piercing whistle noise, which means it's working correctly. As far as yours being stripped.. I've never taken one apart, I'm not sure if that 'bolt' is replacable or not, I hope so in your case.

bolt is replaceable. when you take it apart there are ?6? screws you take off. you can see them on the purple part. there are 2 springs inside so becareful when opening. the part that is most likely stripped is the purple upper housing. just retap and use a helicoil.

search for "rethread type s".. someone just made a thread about this.
