Would anybody having a Greddy Turbo upgrade kit be able to tell me their experience, with this upgrade. Details, of how hard to install, complications, power differences, etc.. will be greatly appreciated!!

thanks,

C.

My advice is to pick up an EVO3 16g instead of the greddy 18g kit. I have not had any experience with the Greddy 18g kit but when I was researching my upgrade from a T25 I considered it and chose the EVO3 16g instead. My research found the Greddy kits to be very spendy and the 18g to only be slightly bigger than the E16g. Since I will more than likely end up ungrading again to a bigger turbo later, the 18g kit seemed like a waste of money. At the same time buying a bigger turbo right away is a mistake too. We need to walk before we run. :thumb:

It is expensive yes, but the reason I am looking into get this is because it is a kit and comes with everything, and apparently an easy installation (according to the different vendours I asked). Thanks for your advice seth, I have been looking into the 16G series and even the FPB28. There is plenty of info about those turbos here. However I was unable to find any good resources about the Greddy turbo upgrade kit.

Would anybody that has a Greddy Turbo Upgrade be able to gimme some info?

i have the kit in my car for about half a year.... easy to install...it was a good upgrade for me since i got it cheap from a buddy.... can really feel a big different from the t25... boost start about 3500...took on my buddy 92 non-turbo convertible 300zx about a half a car... that was only boosting at 14 psi....lost to it about 3 or four car with the t25 boosting 16 creeping to17.......also it have a carb nummber for smog..... :D hope that help!!!!!!

Being that you are not in the US if you don't have access to all the parts we have it may be good to buy to the kit since it does have all the parts, It just depends how easy it is for you to get stuff from the states.

I jus tinstalled it on my friends GST and I would say its a very easy install if you have any mechanical experience at all. Took me tops two hours to disamble and reassemble his turbo....from start to finish.
Greddy kit came with every single part needed and it was good stuff in there. So as far as the kit it self I would say its a very good kit with easy installation. If its the turbo for you or not I will not get into.

Come up to Sweden sometime..we have some really really nice DSMs up here that are both tuned well and styled so...every taste is filled :)

How quick of a spool is there when compared to a stock 2G turbo?

Was the price really worth it for those of you who bought it?

And where is the cheapest place to find it?

Cheapest I found was Impressive Import Performance $1,798.00 plus $94.00 shipping to my address.

The "quickness" of the spool will depend on various different factors, like your other upgrades, your tune and whatnot, as i read somewhere that someone spools at 3500 and i spool at 3000, it might not neccessarily spool "quicker" than a smaller turbo, but you definitely feel the "Power" behind the spool, it's a very nice smooth fast and hard pull feeling when its spooling, if that makes any sense.

As for if it was worth it? For me, absolutely, I do not regret my purchase at all, as you knock out a lot of things by buying this kit. I will be different, in that instead of listing the many reasons why you SHOULDN'T get this kit ( from what i've read PRICE is the ONLY determining factor that seems to matter) I will list the reasons you SHOULD:

You won't have to buy a seperate O2 Housing or Exhaust Manifold. Thats what made me NOT get any other kit, was i didnt want to have to change those out too, which no one told me about.

Also, getting other turbos/o2 housing/em can make your car not street legal, if thats a big issue, but for me, Its a HUGE deal as i live in California.

Its a VERY solid turbo, and again, from what i've gathered from this site and from my own experience, it does pull more than a 16G, i'd say by a good margin, some will say only marginally and then point you to a 20g, then in the same breath say "Don't go too big". And theres the dilemna, you dont want to go "too big" but then again you dont want to have to upgrade all the damn time because a) money, b) too much work to be switching out turbos c) Not enough money to do a) or b) So my solution?

If going to a 20G is too big, and going to a 16G is too small? Why not an 18G? Thats the logic i used and dont regret it one bit. I dont have all the money to waste buying a 16g just to upgrade later to a 20g, so i just got the 18G, which is, nobody tells you because they cant get past the price, the perfect "Mid-Range" turbo, It runs more than a 16g, and slightly less than a 20G. :)

Anywhoo i hope this helped

That was definitely helpful thanks. I don't plan on buying it for a while, but I want to get my facts straight now. I want the 18G because I want a more powerful turbo, but a better pull then the legendary 16G. I also realized that this kit is very complete and seems to be an easy install. The money seems like it will be worth the time I'll save buying it all in a kit like this. I'm building a 4G63 Stroker motor to drop into an AWD and this will definitely help finish the job. My main goal is for good low-end torque and quick acceleration with a well balanced amount of high-end power, better than stock atleast! Plus I live in Iowa, I could do any illegal mods, as long as they aren't visible to a cop sitting in his car atleast 30ft behind me with a spotlight on me and a donut in his hand.

I've never installed a greddy kit, but I can say that the turbo in the kit the td05h 18g is a street monster. It spools like an evo3 16g (hits a little harder but a little later), and it delivers more up top from my experience.

Sounds good for what I'm looking for. Thanks guys. Next I'll have to find some answers on my new 4G63 build project...off to the next thread!

18g spools like 16g, but it has mor balls and capable of making more hp. I was gona get the 18g from FP, but there was a wait on it so me being impatient i went with evo3. So 18g is a good deal and easy to install.
