recently purchased a Greddy Type RZ Bov and since i put it on it flutters in low boost. It sounds normal when i let off at full boost (15psi) i called Extreme PSI and asked about a softer or harder spring but they tell me that since the RZ is universal it doesnt require another spring. Can anyone diagnose what the problem could possibly be? Should i just buy a universal spring kit and try and swap it out?

If there are 2 springs in it like the Type-S, you can open it up and remove the smaller spring.

That could solve the compressor surge, and its free to do.

You'll need to play with the settings. My RS model was a PITA to get right and the shop is where it was actually adjusted properly >.<

I don't know much about the new RZ, but if the fluttering your talking about is not related to compressor surge, I am pretty sure its normal, just less pressure in the system to keep the plunger open long enough. But you could try putting it on its softest setting, which AFAIK keeps it open longer. My Type-S does a similar fluttery thing under very low boost, and so do a few others that I've heard. Ive had mine for 4 years.

Im not positive if it could be compressor surge or not i have tried adjusting it as soft and as hard as it goes with little difference between the two i will try and disassemble the BOV and try and remove one of the springs

what is AFAIK LOL

No experience with the RZ but I had a Type RS years back. It fluttered with the stock setting as well, which typically means spring pressure is too high. I took the cap off so I could adjust the adjusting screw as far out as possible (& still be threaded properly) to have least amount of pressure on the springs. For me this stopped the flutter but if this doesn't help for you, removing a spring, as others have mentioned has also been done, to prevent flutter.
