i have a greddy profec b boost controller and i have it set to 9psi low and boost just keeps creeping except 1st gear. 1st gear holds at 9psi all the way to redline but once i WOT in 2nd it creeps up like i dont have a boost controller....scared to WOT and i have no idea..i checked all the lines they seem to be perfect. is MBC a more simple way rather than having to deal with all this crap with a EBC?
help me out

What are your other settings at?? Do a search and you'll find that you have to adjust all the settings to get the psi you want, some settings effect the others depending what they're set at. You'll have to play around with it to get what you want out of it, specific numbers set on one persons car will work differently on someone else's.

well i tried high and low settings, going from mild to sharp and everything. nothing would work

Is there any reason other than safety right now that you're trying to hold that low of boost? The reason i ask is if it only creeps to 13-15psi then you would be just fine with that.

Also, have you tested teh boost on an MBC to see if your spring is light enough to go as low as 9 psi? (just asking)

16G's are creeping mofos, I would get about 18-19psi minimum out of mine before I ported it. After a mild 20 minute port job it held as low as 14psi without too much movement and held 16 rock solid. I miss that quick spooling 16g feel :)

When you port the turbo hotside, take a few extra minutes and smooth any sharp edges down to nice smooth rolled corners. This will prevent a lot of teh cracks from forming that you see in so many old mitsu turbine housings.. The sharps edges are stress points natuarally and the heat that's backed up in a turbo puts everything around it to the test quickly

yeah i am trying to keep a low boost for safety reasons until i get new couplers because i cant stop the pipes from poping out. my e316g spools very fast and if i WOT 3rd i creep up to 22psi!!! i dont want my car having high boost until i have supporting mods

so...bottom line, try the MBC and see if it will keep the boost?

If you haven't ported the turbine and o2 housings you might as well plan it out or no boost controller is going to stop it from creeping. There's tons of articles on porting the 16g/14b turbos. And just do like i mentioned and round off sharp edges when you're in there

At least you're being smart about it. I see people all the time who just crank the boost and drive LOL

Not sure where you live or who you know but if you can't get it ported around your way, you can ship it to me and i won't even ask for anything. You just pay shipping

( I'm offering because i just bought a ton of new porting burrs to remove a few bell housing bolts that were rounded off and stuck on a jeep tranny I pulled a few weeks ago and I haven't gotten to actually port anything with them yet :) I got all kinds of new shapes and radii :D ) but then again you're in NY so i'm sure you can get it done closer and faster too

wow thanks for the great offer!:D but unfortunately i dont have a spare turbo to run my car with. i had a t28 but i gave it away to my buddy whos trying to boost his civic(ROFL)

theres a shop i can ask to do my porting job so ill try there and hopefully they can finish it in a day or two.

thanks for all the help:rocks:
