hi i just installed my used greddy bov i bought off here for $100 it was ez to install but i cant hear much of any thing its just a little bit louder then my stock

could there be something worng with the bov? the screw that gose in the top is'nt the one made for it.

i wouldnt have bought a used valve with a screw thats not made for it. get another valve or borrow one from someone. try adjusting the screw tighter. dont expect it to be insanely louder than stock

Yup change the screw see if that was the problem. Or try adjusting it.

Well when I had the type-s installed on my car it was way louder than the 2g stock BOV.

Stay boostin

I have the Greddy Type RS BOV, it is insanely louder, even when routed back to the intake or not (of course you need to push alot of Horse power). I can still hear it a mile away, regardless. You should find the screw for it, or find one its size. That is garbage that someone ripped you off, I hate that. If it doesnt work, like no sound or what? It can be a leak if it is open all the way, hence no sound symptom, or if it is too tight, it will squeal and your car will act a bit funny. The purpose of a blow off valve is to release the pressure the turbo uses to "force induct" air to "BOOST", so the pressure goes through there, the BOV. Anyway, on top of Greddy's BOV's, they say "SOFT" or "HARD", I replaced mine with a wingnut for easier adjustments, so find it, and make it happen. Keep us all up to date, we are here to help......

o its alittle louder but not near as loud to hear it a mile away and i will get a screw that fits it and see what happens

the car is stock so it might not have enough hp to do it really loud

Don't forget to teflon tape the new screw, they leak like crazy.

My type RS is quieter than my 1G was. If I'm not listening for it, I don't even here it.

you definitely need to get the correct set screw for it. the hp deal is not gonna make a difference on how loud the bov is. how much boost pressure has been built up inside the uicp when you let off the throttle is whats gonna determine the loudness.

i would suggest not worrying too much about how loud the bov is, unless there is something wrong with it. i have a greddy rs on my gst and it isnt very loud at all, and im in the 320 hp range. so like i said thats just not gonna make much of a difference on the loudness.

you got the wrong idea. horsepower is not going to make it louder. more pressure will allow it purge the air with more force therefore making it louder. horsepower has nothing to do with it

WTF In order to purge all the air through, you need horse and boost, but boost gives you that extra horse, so go back to the whistle analogy..... I know what I am talking about..... :talon:

:talon: WTF Are you serious? I can hear mine whether its vented or not. :talon:
Compared to my 1G which made a long, loud sneeze noise. This thing makes a quick, quiet chirp/whistle at low boost (which is the loudest noise it makes); a quick PCHEEE noise at mid boost; and at high boost the turbo and exhaust are so loud I can't hear it at all. With a metal intake tube the only thing I can hear over the turbo is the wastegate and my g/f screaming at me to slow down.ROFL And this is all IF I'm listening for it. Most people riding the car don't even notice it.

IMO... ricer factor -1 ..... sleeper factor +1

Yeah, the ricer factor and sleeper factor is cool, I like that. SOme are different i guess, mine is extemely loud, oh well, not getting worked up about it..... :talon:

if u really believe that more boost equals more horsepower you have a lot to learn my young padawon.

:talon: No, I didn't say that. Why are we getting off topic here. He just wanted to know why his BOV was that way, so i put it in Lamen's terms for him, it was easy for me to understand in school, so that is the way I told him. Then what does more boost equal then? I assume you are an ASE Certified Mech., and dont let my Newbie Membership fool you. Hmm Master Sober wan Kenobiii? That is it, and i am not a Jedi! :nono:

LOL I was just playing with you man calm down. But to answer your question more boost is just that more boost. Doesnt mean your going to make more horsepower. there is no magical formula no linear or exponential relationship between boost pressure and horsepower. you can try and calculate a theoretical but you my friend are no rocket scientist nor am I on combustion theory. there is way to many variables involved to say that horsepower and boost go hand in hand. i can list a million and one examples for you all day. but to save my breath ill give u one.

what happens when you switch to a larger turbo. at the same boost levels you are pushing more air and thus your intercooler must be over-compensating for the application in order to keep the air charge as cool as it did with the older turbo. this is called heat soaking. my experience with this was with a 20g turbo going to a 60-1. at 20psi i saw more horspower than i did with the 20g. we tried upping the boost to 24 and no dice. actually made less horsepower than the 20g did on 20psi. this was due to the tremendous restriction of my tube and fin intercooler. the turbo was just blowing hot air

anyway you can go back to your topic of how loud a bov is suppose to be. just trying to help the noobs out with a little no-bull knowledge

:thumb: Oh I know how it goes. Just cause you run a bigger turbo doesn't mean you can run more boost. I know, turbo lag is a pain, but hey, no hard feelings. It's just good ol' common knowledge. It isnt how loud, its the quality of it though, that is what some of these guys here dont understand with this. They want all that ricer junk and that's it. Oh well, welcome to the Faster and more Furiouser generations. :talon:

ya i learned a little more bout intercoolers that day. i got more respect now for intercooler design. i thought to myself really how much can a bar and plate improve cooling over a tube and fin. well it turned out a lot. my 23x11x3 tube and fin wasnt good for more than 400hp. where a similar sized bar and plate will handle a gt35r with a fair amount of boost:thumb:

if you guys want a loud aggressive sounding BOV. get the TIal BOV and get the GM maf and translator and hook it up between the bov and throttle body.

Ummmm. O.K.

Boost does not necessarly mean HP. I agree that more boost will make it louder(if you want that) but more boost does not always mean HP.

my room mate works at a tool and die we will make a screw for it and see how it sounds cause i would like for it to be alittle louder like were u can hear it for about a few 100 feet away.
