Well I bought my intercooler about a week ago and it shows up today, shipping was very fast. The quality of the intercooler is nice, nice welds on the end tanks, nice weight to it, etc. I know its a very very small intercooler (18x12x3) compared to what most of you guys have but I didn't want a big one since im going to give it a light coat of black paint and I want to have a sleeper look. I still want to cut the upper part of the front bumper to make it show more and to get a little more air in there. I want to know what do you guys think? Anyone using a 18x12x3 front mount, I would love to see how it turned out. Here are some pics of it.

What are your future plans for your car? The intercooler wont go very far IMO. If i was you i woulda got one bigger then that it kinda defeats the purpose of have a fmic because its almost the same as the side mount. Well anyways it looks like it was made well tho. :)

Well for $80 bucks shipped to my door new it was a deal. I'd like to see 300 wheel horsepower but I dont think that will be happening anytime soon since im still on my 14b. Honestly though it said on ebay that it will handle 500 horsepower, but i highly, highly doubt that. What do you think (wheel horsepower wise) this little guy can handle? :dsm:

That looks like a Yonaka core by the end tanks. Very nice core. They are a newer company out of canada. You should go on their site and check the flow on that core though as it might be too small. I got their biggest core at 26x12x4 on my 2g rated for 1000hp. you drop it down to a 26x12x3 your only good for 650hp. Even a Spearco core that size wont be good for too much power. I dont know what their web address is but try searching.

UPDATE: Yonaka.com. im not seeing that size on their site so i dont know if its the same company. but an 18x9x2 is rated for 350hp so you may be alright. id say a 400hp rated core.

I think you could make 300 whp with that easily. Stick with the 14b and get proper supporting mods and tune it run 20psi youll be over 300hp pretty easily.

Well i went on that yonaka site and found this.... http://www.yonaka.com/product_details.asp?id=435&cid=111&cn=Intercoolers

This one is a 18x9x2 and it says that it can support more than 350 horsepower, and mine is a 18 x 12 x 3 so I think im good for now. Do you think I can put this on with out having to modify my bumper support? By the looks of it I dont have to but I want to make sure.

12" tall core you are going to have to cut in a notch on the crash bar. possibly some minor bumper trimming. You might as well went with a bigger core just for that but dude 80$ for a core that will hold what your probably going to use it for. Not a bad deal. I would actually paint that thing black to hide it. You will probably get ragged on for a having a core that tiny but hey it works. For an 80$ core i would sacrifice spraying it black:thumb:

it works and all but its just so Tiny, but hey i'm the sorta of person that will spend 500 bucks on a FMIC that works just as good as a supra IC cuz i like the look of it :thumb:

Let us know how you run when its all said and done

wow thats prob the smallest fmic I've just about ever seen but it looks bad azz I've had this page open for like 2 hours trying to respond to this post. cause I'm at work, that think looks like a supra side mount converted to a front mount. if it can hold even 400hp then you'll surprise the hell outta alot of people but at least you have a fmic at the moment I'm still on a ssmic. so congrats. oh and not trying to talk trash about it in my post.

Not trying to start anything but you said sleeper look by painting it black but you're going to cut the front bumper to show it more? I don't get it. For $80 I guess you can't beat it. I would have gone for one that fills the whole openning across even if it was half that length. Anyway, goodluck with your set up.

Well I want to cut it at least a little bit but its still going to be black so I dont think you'll notice it that much. :dsm:

Thats a funny little intercooler. I hope it works for you. Looks well made.

imo i would rather have a ic that goes horizontally not vertically. there is no reason to cut the bumper vertically. it's impractical and hardly ever turns out looking good. but if thats all you needed and you like it then screw other ppl's opinion. but for a little more you coulda got an ic that fits that bumper and will support good hp.

Yeah send that back that looks rediculous. Get a fmic that is longer than taller you will get teh same area but with no cutting. Gte like a 24x4x3 or something I don't know just send that back it looks like a smic just put in the front rather than a real fmic.

I'd say see if you can get it to mount where the stock intercooler went and just make a friggin huge funnel type device that takes air from the inlet and covers the whole front of the thing, like stock. I'd be kinda embarrased with that on the front of mine, I'd think people would start to think I went and got one of those intakes that goes into the front LOL. But hey 80 bucks I'd do it LOL. Hope it works, if you take it to the dyno make sure to post up those numbers.

dont listen to any of these comments really. but please dont hack up the bumper to expose more of the core. Just trim what you need to make it fit. It will work fine if your shooting for a low 300whp car. But i would definitely paint it black.

I agree with you totally, and trust me I wont do a hack job on the bumper, Im only going to trim it a little bit, most of the people that live by me that own dsm's with hacked up front bumpers ( looks like someone cut it with a sawzall or a hack saw ) and ya id love to hit 300 - 325 whp. :dsm:

if it was me, i would of spent a little more money for a bigger intercooler...

Size isn't always everything guys. Remember the size FMIC Shep used to run? That thing was smaller than a lot of FMICs I see people running.

He said he want's ~300whp. Why go any bigger? That would be as retarded as buying 1200cc injectors for a 16g because they cost just a little more.
