so my original deal didn't pan out, so i found a 96 talon awg. the car has the stock running 7 bolt, but i have the 6 bolt on the stand ready to be torn down a built. the car its self need some work, body, suspension and a couple rotted spots.
so here is my list of question
- what turbo is this( picture below)
- what generation tranny do i need for a 6 bolt in a 2g chasis(probably going shepard)
- do they make a manual steering rack for 2g
the plan is the same a before, solid track car, and decent weekend cruiser.

I see no picture of the turbo, you will need a 2g transmission, and they do not make a manual rack for a 2g.

Shepard doesn't do new builds for dsm's anymore, if you have a shep tranny that was already built by them at one point, they will still work on them/service them. You can buy one used and they will still work on them too. I called them to verify a build and asked them all this. It's a shame because there customer service was :thumb:

if i get the stock 2g tranny rebuilt, does it then bolt up to the 6 bolt? what generation axles and other supporting parts do i need?

Transmission will bolt right up, one bolt hole on the front of the engine does not get a bolt holding it to transmission.

Axles from your 2g will work as it is a 2g transmission.

no other supporting mods are needed.

I've done a few of these 6 bolt swaps.

It is very obviouse it isn't a 14B. How can you not tell from then i tires of the blades, there's nly 6 and a 14b has way more than that. It's ok the be wrong but don't go start making excuses when someone already provided the correct information. What if no one else posted and the guy got rid of it? Just do some more research and read up on turbos. Better to sure then mis inform someone.

Good find though bro, if your goals aren't very big then that will be the last turbo you'll need. It is a solid little bugger that gets the job done. Matched right to the perfect set up and you got yourself a super street machine that will drop jaws.

What are your goals? Budget build? Small frame turbo? Big power? Etc?

I have both a Shep trans and TRe trans for both my 1G and 2G fwd dsm's and love them both. I don't like to say ones better than the other, one has a quaife lsd the other a kar king. Both have taller gears, EVO gears etc, I think when it comes down to one Being better is the buyers opinion. Like if you like the process of this shop over this then there you go. Some do more work than others, shot preened, creo etc etc. Just do some research on the forums and the tranny builders site to compare, I'm sure you'll do fine with whoever you chose, their all good at what they do.

Good luck bro,

God bless,

Anthony B.

The plan is a streetable car for the weekends, the will get me into the 11s at the track. It's not going to be a daily driver, so I can lean harder to the track side of things, dot legal slicks, weight reductions, vibrations and loud are all expected issues with this one. Also i don't think this turbo is going to get me the horsepower needed, but I think it's good enough to put the car together with and atleast test the rest of the car.

I was on sheps site and It looked like they still rebuilt dam trannys? But after reading everyone's posts about it I'm going with jacks. They have good rebuild options pretty much to meat any power goal. and it's a 16g turbo
