i just had my Apex'i N-1 catback installed this weekend, my first question is the easy one, does anyone with the n1 know if the silencer comes on the muffler head and needs to be removed. my exhaust has a bolt on connecting to a black insert which i thought was the silencer, but when i removed the bolt, the insert wouldn't budge, is this the silencer or should it remain on the exhaust. the other ? i had was after the install i noticed a smoke smell while driving please tell me this is normal and will pass.

Yes it does come with a silencer attatched, and it is a little pain to remove. The smoke should be common since it's brand new. Give it a couple of days and it will pass.

well thats good news. do you have any suggestions to silencer removal. any specific tool that can make it slide out easier.

i didn't see the tool in the box, i didn't install it myself, and overboost.com is charging $15 plus $15 for shipping for something i'm only going to use once. can anyone suggest something else.

hahaha... i just had my N1 cat back put on last week. the silencer sorta slide out after i tugged on it for a bit... and the smell, i described it as ROSTED MARSHMELLOWS!!! made me hungry every time i drove it! LOL i wouldn't pay to buy a tool to remove it. look around your garage for something that might help. maybe needlenose pliers or just find a guy with a hook for a hand..LOL

im on my second apexi exhaust and everytime i get a new one it reminds me of waffles :) oh and did ya try a clothes hanger? might be to flimsy though.

ya just tug on the silencer, it should come out. Also the odd smell is comming from the gaskets getting hot and "melting" a little. Also THe smell comes from the lack of a CAT.

a friend of mine got one for his car, just got a metal coat hanger and used it, mine on the eagle just pull on it, it comes out. easy.
