got an estimate on engine work-- does it sound right?

6 bolt block-- stripped down already

$175 for a .02 bore and i THINK he said $5 to deck it

$200 to balance the crank

i was prob. going to install the pistons and the internals myself (assuming id have all my own parts), but i asked for a price quote anyway, he said $350.

do these prices sound right? im in north jersey

That's a pretty good price. I paid $600 To have my V6 block decked, bored .5 over, freeze plugs installed and hot tanked; Heads decked and hot tanked; plenum hot tanked and ported

We charge like 100 bucks for bore and 65 for deck. I highly doubt it is 5 dollars to deck it.

Yea I was in my shop when he told me the prices so I could barely hear... I'm assuming he said $55

Is there a way to tell if I need to have the crank machined and balanced? Some measurements or something?
