got a question

whats up everyone, i am new to the import world esp. eclipse's. i have a built turbo'd mustang but thats another story. i bought well traded a 1956 cadillac for a fully built 92 gsx awd eclipse. car runs or ran great set on 25 psi. my problem is the clutch went kaboom....... heres my question is it easier to just pull tranny or do yall guys pull motor and tranny together. and also i have a brand new SCANMASTER 3 scanning tool and data logger that would like to trade for a good clutch kit if anyone has a extra laying around. please let me know i paid like 250.00 for the data logger just need a good clutch that will hold up to 400 hp

Welcome to the forums.

2 things, 1, These cars are not imports. Not entirely. They were built in Normal Illinois, and were a partnership between Mitsubishi and Dodge.

and 2, read up on the faqs and such, and put VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions on your favorites. You'll need it.

In relation your question however, Vfaq has this:
1G AWD Clutch install

It looks like a lot of work, but you gotta remember, this is an AWD vehicle.

Good thing you are coming here, it's the best place for info on DSMs.

Just remember, catch up on maintenance, Repairs, and supporting mods first. You'll be happier. Trust me.

Definetly a lot easier to just pull the tranny. It's pretty much a straight forward fwd setup with an addition of a transfer case.

with that much hsp you probably should do some homework on what clutch kit you want in your car

want a daily driver out of it? a straight 1/4 mile car? or somewhere inbetween

good brands to go with are ACT clutchmasters Slowboyracing Exedy

hit the search button on the forum and start looking up info from other members and their experiences

a Act 2600 kit would get you close,, still probably wouldnt hold the 400 because your AWD

thank you so much the scanner data logger is going out to you tomorrow. thank you for all the help. you dont realize how much. if anyone needs anything let me know. like i said i am new to this. my turbo mustang is a complete different animal its alot faster but not as fun to drive for some reason. i am going to post some pics of the dsm and some details on it.

Lets see some pics of both cars! It took me 3 hours to drop my tranny, 6 hours to get it back in.. If you use enough PB buster your life will be A LOT easier. And if you do all the research etc. Welcome to the forums, I have a 6 puck sprung as well that has been sitting. It is used though and not in as good condition as Kaotic_red's. Welcome to DSM's

well i got the tranny out didnt take too long about a hour. heres what i found aint good. the bellhousing bolts must have not been tight. causing the trany and block to become seperated. thats why the clutch felt funny when i first got the car. well the bolts backed out and cause the tranny to bind up. busted the bellhousing and burnt the clutch and throw out bearing slam up. bellhousing busted is no problem for me i own a welding and fab shop so i fixed that problem. but the major problem i have is that the sleeve that the throw out bearing rides on thats aluminum thats made into the case is broke off. has anyone ever seen that happen. you think i can reweld it and it will hold or do i need to just get another tranny. my new clutch should be on the way thanks kaotic red your scanner was sent out fri. i emailed you the confirmation let me know when you get it.
