Got a New car, has some issues, suggestions?

hi all, i just bought a 95 talon tsi awd, and i noticed while driving at night with my headlights on, that when i put my clutch in or downshift that my lights dim, then when the clutch grabs again the lights resume their normal strength, does anyone know what this is a symptom of?for some backround on the car, the speed sensor doesn't work , the tachometer is off by about 500rpms, and it also idles rough(the kid was venting an rs bov, i just ordered a recirculation kit hopefully that will help), and bogs/stalls as soon as i hit boost (though i believe the latter is a result of the car having a 16g with stock fuel pump/injectors, i ordered bigger injectors/fp/apexi neo hopefuly that will solve that problem) the kid i bought it from really did a hack job on most of the mods, and the only comfort i got out of buying it was that it did not cost me all that much and that it should make a good project for it has alot of potential

Does it have an under drive crank pulley??


I have similar circumstances with mine. If so than its just because the alternator isnt spinning as fast.

Sounds like your alternator/battery is going out. Check all your grounds and your battery cables before you do anything else. If those are all right, then I'd replace both at the same time, personally.

Sounds like a bad ground is being had. Check to make sure there aren't any loose dangling wires around the clutch pedal area.

Before I continue please note i am a complete noob and not mechanically inclined. I usually understand concepts quite well but i have no experience with tools whatsoever.

Anyways, the pulleys are stock, the Alternator is new, not sure about the battery. I'm going to check the wiring near the clutch as that has been suggested to me more than once. Also while i'm at it, my car bogs badly as soon i try to accelerate, as soon as the turbo spools and i get more than a pound or two of boost it bucks/tries to stall. When this occurs i can smell a strong fuel odor, and i swapped the spark plugs and they were white, i was thinking they were running hot/lean? I just ordered a 190 fp and apexi neo, and the car came with 650cc injectors(not installed, still running stock 450's and stock fp). once i have the neo/fp/injectors, do you guys think i will be able to actually go to wot?i am not even able to accelerate more than about %50 throttle and going onto the highway scares me when i cant accelerate like that. if i accelerate lightly it will pick up speed i just cant accelerate hard. Also when i get the money i am going to buy a boost leak tester, as it seems boost leaks are common issues for the car.
