Alright. i finally got my car back, a buddy of mine was working on it, he knows a lot has his own garage and is very picky... soo ill run a list of what was done...

the major issues are taken care off and well seem to be all good.

-Replaced stock crack exhaust manifold with EVO 3 Mani
-Replaced stock destroyed clutch/flywheel with Fidanza 2.1 clutch kit and Fidanza Flywheel
-Replaced stock downpipe and cat with 3'' downpipe and High flow 3'' cat.
-Replaced Left front half shaft.
-Replaced all belts and fluids.
-Clutch Master Cylinder
-ugh ok all i can remember....

K now... as i posted before the car went to the shop with Idle surge, but was only doing it when cold once warmed up it would stop, and Idle and run fine... now the Car still has Idle Surge but now will loop and search constantly as soon as the clutch is put in! the Idle it hits at the lowest seems high right around 1,200 and then up to 2000 or 2,200rpms! THIS NEEDS FIXED AND IS ANNOYING! We tried unplugging the FIAV and it did nothing.

k now also, when decelerating especially at high rpms the is alot of vibrations going on, atleast thats what it sounds like, from what i hear, it sounds like the exhaust vibrating somewhere, hopefully its not worse, you can hear it sounding like its coming from the middle/back of the car and at when really getting on it and then leting off in 2nd or so and letting it decelerate u can here it in the front end... guys help me out here, if these two can be fixed it would be awesome! thanks! gahhh:hellyeah:

you did say he put on a new exhuast! So it is most likely that.

Mine kind of did the same thing. It makes this rattling sound right when you let off after Wide Open Throttle (WOT).

Man is idle surge annoying. That happened to my car. When you throttle up does it stick at that RPM for awhile and go down slowly?

alright i believe i found the source of my surge... but i have no idea what the part is! im looking in my haynes manual but it doe no sayyy please someone tell me. in the haynes manual it just says it has to do with ISC but it is not the motor, it sits on top of the throttle body and sticks straight up, 1 wire connected too it. whhat is this, as soon as i disconnect it, the surge stops! btw the ISC is new!

Your ISC is the lower left hand corner in that pic.

You can remove that and the FIAV and loop the coolant lines that go to the TB and be done with it all together.

I made my own plate and took all that off. You just have to sit on the throttle a little when you first start the car but everything is good to go after that.

The sensor is part of the ISC system. You should OHM the coils there are 4 I believe on the 2gs not sure on the 1gs. Also if you know the ISC is good and are still having issues inspect the ECU. One of the known issues is the CAP that drives the ISC leaks and will cause problems.

It doesnt take long to pull it and post up some pics.

why would my surge stop when unhooking the little brass thing on the top that has a single wire going too it?

alright, the sun is up im about to go out and put my dash back together... is there any pictures you guys would like to help me out with this Surge issue... like i said when unplugging that brass thing sticking up the surge goes away... and question... when installing and new ISC do you need to do any adjusting tweeking?:hellyeah:

thanks guys

alright so i unhooked the ISC.... and the idle went to about 2,500! so i adjusted the biss screw i could tell it was turned out pretty far! i almost turned it all the way in and it then dropped to around 750 (may need to tweek it a little might be a hair too low) then shut off the car... reset the ecu... plugged in the ISC... then started the car and bingo! no surge!! took it for a drive and no surge.... so could it be possible that when someone looked at it they had the BISS screw so messed up that it wanted to idle so high that the isc was flipping out? im currently letting the the car cool down and see what it does on a cold start... butttt i did notice one thing at a red light it was stop and go so i had to pull up and then put the clutch in and stop... the idle dropped and stalled... could that have to do with the biss being a snag too low or could it be that flywheel dropping the rpms too fast?

alright update... the car sat for about 4 hrs. completely cooled down and now the surge is there. only at start up until it warms now... not sure if that helps anyone to help pin point it, im trying to narrow down the options before i end up buying everything and rebuilding the TB. id would rather try to pin point it first... thanks

Have you taken apart the FIAV? I would clean the entire throttle body replace the shaft seals etc. The idle drops after its warm because the FIAV is closing off likes it supposed to. I would be you have a vacuum/boost leak in the shaft seals or BISS.

I have no idea if you can get them at HDR. I have never tried as when I rebuild throttle bodies for customers I use only OEM parts since I know they work.

Your best bet would be to just bring it there and try to compare and find something that would work. Keep in mind, the BISS o-ring is a very common leak point so it has to be a pretty darn close match.

yea the more im reading and digging in it looks like these seals could be the problem... im thinking about getting a gasket kit and just doing it... and im going to replace the BISS o-ring and isc o-ring for the heck of it...

dude lvc? i live in annville haha! come fix this now! i hate this surrrrrrge!

hey guys wondering if someone could help explain the difference between a FIAV block off plate and a fiav bypass... all i get from it is with the bypass you retain the ISC where as with the block off you get rid of the fiav and the isc? what is needed for cool weather climates the ISC or fiav??
