Hey everyone I'm new to the fourm but familiar with it. I searched for countless hours trying to figure out my problem. I recently bought a 90 tsi awd a few months backs not running. I had the ecu done at ECMTuning when I got the car..leaky caps will my problem is when I got the car running it ran good at idle a little smoke but it sat for years ( 95xxx and I'm 2nd owner) well after driving it 10 15 miles it seems to bog out bad then kick back in.. I've changed pump and filter and relay in the car but the strange thing is if I start the car next morning it won't start. No power to the pump. I can hear and see the relay working like it should. Fuse is good also. Wait a couple days and it magically starts but does the same thing bog out. It is really frustrating me out it has a mind of it own. I just need some help figuring this out. What is causing me to lose power to the pump. I know ecu and relay is good any help is appreciative

Can someone help me out

this could be a number of things.. but like idaho said if you kno its the pump go for it. Im sure you did a tune up before running, plugs, new fuel filter.. etc but also i would of drained the tank if it was sitting for so long. visually inspect fuel pressure if your dont have a fpr gauge while running fuel into a bucket. then i would inspect pump itself for electrical gremlins or if the thing has had it or filter is damaged or missing. wouldnt be a bad idea for a lil injector cleaner too once everything else is up to par. let us kno what you find thx

when you repaced the fuel pump did you use submersible fuel line? When i bought my car the guy before me put a walbro 255 in and used regular fuel line in the tank and every so often the car would stumble and not run. the fuel line was falling apart around itself and collapsing when the car needed fuel. hope this helped

Yea if a car has sat for a long time there is bound to be water in the gas. You should always drain the tank and throw in some new gas. Another thing that usually works is throw a couple gallons of fresh premium gas and a couple bottles of rubbing alcohol (you want the purest you can get usually 90 some %).
