good trans shops in chicagoland

sorry to piggyback your post but that is a real good question. I am also interested in having mine built too.

Give AMS a call.

We have worked out a partnership agreement with them- they will be able to sell, install, service, etc. our products.

Complete transmissions and converters can go from us to them very quickly on an exchange basis to minimize vehicle downtime.

In case anyone doesn't know where they are (unlikely) here's their info:

sorry but ams knows more about installing clucthes and fly wheels then end clutches torque converters and shift kits

i have the shift kit and end clutch kit and ams doesn't know squat installing or servicing auto trannies

the kept telling mee that they send out the thier trannies to transdude to get fully built
which i just want the shift kit and install kit put on

So AMS doesn't handle any auto tranny work?

Perfect Transmission does work for AMS, is that what I'm led to believe?

I thought AMS did all their own work.

I don't know who was doing AMS' automatic trans work, I only who is doing it now- us.

whole lot of miscomunication going around here. Guys please check before you make statements like this. Its posts like these that start Rumors and hurt buisness'

Initially (about a year ago) we wanted to explore the automatic trans world. Now most of the guys here had never tinkered around with it. one of the employees dealt with Perfect trans and we gave them a shot. so far so good yes we have there tranny in our 1G A/T but we wanted to go with something a little more serious. I did some research and learned of Russ and IPT. Since then we have been using IPT and I can say that we are nothing short of thrilled with John and IPT. I dont want to take anything away from Perfect trans but when you have a the worlds fastest A/T DSM running your trannies its hard to not take notice.

as to us not knowing anything about Auto transmission..we do...quite a bit actually the reason we deal with shops like Sheppard and IPT is because we simply dont have the Facility to accomidate big tranny builds. It makes more sense to deal with shops that have a proven record and the time and facilities to do so. In the end you get you car back faster and have some of the best products money can buy installed.

I hope this clears up the confusion in the thread. If anyone has any more questions you can email me directly at [email protected]
