Hey everybody, I went to the local 1/8 mile track last night and I'm trying to figure out whether I should be happy with what I ran or go back to the drawing board. I won't even bother posting ET's since they vary and I'm not the best driver, plus I can't launch at the track. My traps though seem to be a little low, at least I think so but what do I know. Almost all were around 80 with the highest being 81.6. For a complete rundown of my car's mods click here http://dsmregistry.com/detail.php?carid=376

I have never tuned at all and just have 550 compensation with the Keydiver chip. My question is, should I be running faster? Is 80 mph low for a full weight 2G? I run 18 psi and don't see any knock on my guage and my O2's are around .96-.98. My friend George logged my car a week or 2 ago and said that my timing curve looked good but it seemed I was running a little rich. I plan on buying an AFC and logger next week and trying to lean it out some but I'm wondering if I will see that much of a gain by doing so. Sorry for making such a longwinded post but thanks in advance for any help.

That's about 103 MPH in the 1/4.

What was your peak timing in the log? You aren't doing bad, but I'm sure you could squeeze more out of it.

I think peak timing was around 19. After it built it never went below 16 though. I just glanced at it and since I've never looked at one before it was gibberish to me. I forgot to mention that I also threw in some 100 octane and turned the boost up to about 21 and had a best trap of 84.1, does that sound about right? My best ET was 8.409 but I can't really launch at the track that well, my stutter is too low and the car just wants to bog. I've been talking to my friend and he used to have a 1G, he ran 11.99 at 113 on a small 16g. When he had a decent tune he said his average traps on pump with the 16g was around 83-85 in the 1/8. Does that sound about right for a 1G? Does the 1G head and intake mani really make 3-5 mph diff? Now if you were me based on these times what would your next mod be? I was planning on getting the AFC+logger or do you think I might benefit more from cams or such? Let me know what you guys think, I'm sick and tired of losing to modded SRT4's from rolls.

In my experiences, 20-21 psi on pump is fine for a 16g.

I would have ran 24ish on 110.

Anyways, 84.1 is around 106MPH. That's sounds pretty good. Once you get an AFC, you'll be able to fine tune. The chips do a great job of compensation, but there's always room for improvement, and you may be able to squeeze more out by leaning it out some.

If you run 20-21 on pump, you're 1/8 traps will be similar to your friend's. I'm sure there's more in that turbo.

Alright thanks, after I get the logger and AFC I'll work on turning up the boost to around 20 on pump and go back. I had it at 20 before but I was getting a little knock at the very top of third, less than 7 counts, but I still turned it back down.

Also, AMS made 15hp and 38 ft/lbs of torque with the HKS 264/272 combo, so if you wanted to upgrade, and didn't want another turbo, this would probably be my next move. After that, maybe a port matched/new intake mani. with a 1g throttle body.

But that's just me, of course.

Thanks a lot for your help. I would also like to hear some others opinions about my times. Anyone else have any suggestions?
