good start to upgrading enternals???

It all depends on your goals, but when my bottom end needed rebuilt I decided to upgrade to a 2.3 stroker kit with all forged rotating assembly and balance shaft eliminator kit. For the head I got the revised lifters to hopefully stop the annoying lifter tick. Cams would be good too, but depending on which ones you get you might need stronger valve springs.

I upgraded to a evo3 turbo with a FP manifold. The manifold is a good start i think. I also got a new intake. I have a injen intake with K&N filter. That's what i started my mods with.

dsmlink and a wb... Boost gauge and mbc... Best first mods imo. As for internals, eagle rods, wiseco pistons, and build up the head. BTW stock internals are rated for 400 hp, so get the other stuff first then go internal if at all possible, unless you are having to tear bottom end up

My goal for now is to get around 290-300 hp. Already have headers, exhuast, walbro fuel pump, 650cc injectors(pervious owner had put in injectors), punishment racing fmic, 3" intake, evo8 maf. I plan on doing bc stage 2 cams and bigger turbo but i dont want to mess up my engine, so i planned on adding forged rods, springs ,retainers and valves. I just figured id ask some people who have already done it

Mileage is at 190,xxx. Hasnt been rebuilt since 100,000. The guy who owned it before me ran it at 20psi, main reason why im asking

Got a buddy who tunes it for me. Since theres no awd dyno for 200miles....

ACL trimetal bearings, bk 272's, ported head, bk springs and retainers, 3g lifters, cometic metal HG, wiseco 9.0:1 pistons, eagle rods, stock crank, and some other studf I can't remember. is my setup. I say that you need to be doing routine maintnence to that tranny too, but thats another topic I'll leave to you to bring up.

.... love them smartass comments. Money is not an issue got a 5k to work with. So ill prob do rods, pistons, springs, retainers, valves, cams and build my suspension and drivetrain more

I think with 5 k you should be well on your way. I just got a local guy to quote me a build for 3k with eagle rods, and cp pistons. I ended up finding a guy parting out a built motor which helped me reduce cost quite a bit.

Mileage is just a number, well thats how I feel.. A stock bottem end is safe till about 450 wheel pump and over 500 wheel on e85, thats past you power goal..Now if your compression is good on a compression test, and the motor doesnt burn oil id leave it alone other then mataiance ( water pump, timing belt, tensioner, idioler and tensionier pullys). You can use that 5k on other bolt ons, fuel mods, and tuning software and probly still have enough left over after you hit your power goal to take a vacation or cruise somewhere with your girl or wife.:thumb:.. Thanks just my 2 cents :hellyeah:

I'm still curious as to what you're using to tune? You said you're buddy does the tuning for you, however, you have no tuning solution listed anywhere I saw.

What he said. Keep the motor if there are no signs of wear.
Get a bigger turbo, external waste gate, port the o2 housing and a front mount and hard pipeing.
Wide band 02 and retune.
Easily make it to 300.

Build a destroked 4g64 if you want to build something.

If you're looking for internals then you already know you want forged pistons and rods. There's a company out here in south cali. RPM max, they make great rods at affordable prices. I paid 260 for a set of H beam rods. Great quality stuff. To go with them I bought some Manley pistons. I did a ton of research before choosing my pistons and I loved what I read about Manley over Wiseco. all together I paid less than 500 for the pistons and 260 for the rods. only about 750 for a great set up.

Which model are you using currently?
I'll suggest this one since it's the only one I have much experience with:

You can't go wrong using this enteral route feeding tube pump. The hospital I use to work at had this model. The veget... er... um... patients using them never seemed to complain about it at all.

But seriously, if your compression/leak-down test results are good, do the maintenance and the stock longblock should be plenty capable of your 300whp goal, especially with the list of supporting bolt-ons you posted. Other than a tuning solution, all you need that you haven't told us about is a turbo. A rebuilt 14b or small 16G will reach your goals, easier to do the larger you go.

If youre looking for 300hp then you can keep your block stock. You can make power with better cams, turbo, intake manifold, etc. just get headstuds and a good headgasket and you can turn up the boost and make 300hp without messing with rods and pistons
