Here's my deal. My car has 146660 miles on it(ooh 666ROFL ) Anyways, it developed rod knock, and I am not too sure how to deal with it. How much work is involved with replacing a rod bearing? My dad was explaining to me you have to do alotta "precise" things and you it's not just pull the bad one out and put the new one in and slap it all back together...I'm not too good with being "super" careful, ya know? I am thinking about my options. I can't seem to find a shop that will tear apart the engine and fix it, they only buy used rebuilt engines and put those in. So if anything I would have to do my own work...like I said probably not my best idea. I would really like to just sell this and get a "new" car. Would my best bet be to just throw an ad in the paper and ebay and see what I can get? Or would I be better off parting out the car? The engine is really the only real bad part about the car. The body is in really good shape, minor dings and few small dents, has a few quirks about the wiring, but everything works and all. So would I be better off trying to sell it as a whole or parting it out? Or do you think I could do the work myself and get it running? I can't really seem to find too many parts out there, but they don't seem terribly expensive...except that I would probably have to replace just about everything in the engine just to be safe ### I am not sure what's next to go.:toobad: Any advice would be appreciated!

You won't get much either way. You'd probably get more just selling it. Since it's a non-turbo 1st gen people aren't going to want to give much for it.

For the amount of money it would cost to get it fixed you could buy a 1g turbo probably, if you look hard enough.
