good injector size?

My first guess would be 660cc injectors but it is really based on how much boost you plan to run and what your goals are. You do know that you are going to need an afc, maft, or some other fuel control before you change injector size, right?

550s IMO. 660s get a bit to much timing advance.. Get a FPR and bump the pressure if you'ld like to get the 550s to flow a bit more

I disagree, 550's allow for zero growth room to upgrade at a later date and can see 100% IDC running high boost with all supporting mods. I would go with some PTE 680s or Denso 660s. Big enough to allow you room to grow but not too big as to be uncontrollable with an AFC.

680's will give him a timing nightmare and harder to tune.. I know because i run 680's right now and the timing advance is to much, plus the deadtime is horrible too. I ran 550's on my 50trim with no knock on 22psi, on pump. 550s are fine enough.

550's are enough for a 16g. I'm running 680 on my 60 trim. You can run about
22-23 psi on 550's which is more than enough for a 16g. Unless you get your ecu
chipped, I would not put in anything bigger due to timing issues.

550cc injectors. The guy isn't saying "well I want some injectors big enough to upgrade later". He's saying "what injectors should I get for my ported EvoIII". 550's should work great, go with an Apex-i S-AFC and a 190lph fuel pump and you should be set.

The only reason I suggested 660's is because I saw 104%dc on my 550's at 22 psi and just a big 16g. I just prefer to keep a safe margin myself.
imo he will be fine. 680s are to much timing.. i suggest 550s and a bit more fuel pressure

Do you guys think that a 190lph fuel pump is good enough for an evo 3 16g with 20-22psi and 550's. Just curious

I would say 550cc with big 16g but with Fuel pressure regulator and a walbro in-tank high pressure 255lph pump, it should be a good set up for up to 23psi.
If you wish to upgrade to a FMIC Kit and bigger turbo well then depends on what turbo you will be using and how much boost. :dsm:

I do plan on eventually going to a bigger turbo, but I don't want to have to buy too many in between mods, it shouldn't be too long before i build the motor. Is it still worth buying 550 even though I am planning to upgrade to the point to where it is maxed out eventually?

Well in that case you should get some 650cc or 680cc injectors and control them with a APEX AFC or MAS Translator, with these you can compensate any desires for bigger turbo and bigger boost. :dsm:

bad advice... 680s with just a safc wil mean to much timing, trust me i know

Well if you will be going bigger in the near future, just hold off on the EvoIII turbo and injectors. Save up for the big setup of course if you intend to go that way. Denso 190lph fuel pump should be fine, a FPR is optional and not necessarily needed. If you're going big though, might as well go Walbro 255, Aeromotive (sp?) FPR, and a nice tuning setup, maybe DSMlink? Be sure to rewire the fuel pump.

680s will NOT be too big especially when 91 octane is the highest he can get. 550s is not a good recommendation when:

1. He only has the lowest octane rating available in the country
2. He is planning on upgrading sometime down the line
3. People who have run similar setups with 550s have gone over 100% IDC

I used to have an 18G and ran 625s and was hitting 98% IDC at 21psi. Changed to some 680s and using the AFC, solved my fuel problem.

Also, someone asked if the 190lph fuel pump would be okay with the Evo16G and the answer is yes. I am running 350whp and have a 190lph fuel pump and it is doing just fine. The 255 is pretty damn noisy too which is a deterent for daily drivers.

i have 3 cars running with 680cc's and they give me no problem 1 has a big 16g, and two a 18g turbo doesn't matter with injector size you have between 650-680cc's you compensate the fuel with the AFC it is better to have a bigger injector instead due that our cars have fuel cut and when you mount a bigger injector and work with the AFC you cure this problem, do not mount any fuel pump with less than 255lph you will not have enaugh fuel to support big boost.

ok. for fuel do a 190 walbro pump, rewire it. get some denso 660 injectors. pick up an afc or a dsmlink. get that car tuned. and enjoy, with room to grow. i wouldnt mess with the delfi type injectors (PTE, FIC, etc..), there is a reason why Denso is our OEM injector.

I am on the EVOIII with 550's and had to bump up the fuel pressure. I was running out of fuel. This is certainly an option but as was stated, if you are going with a larger turbo later on, I would go denso 660's. You can always play with fuel pressure to get them to work well including proper timing advance with an SAFC. :thumb:

eh i have 660's and an b16g and i was at 64 % injector duty at 98 % tps. LOL. That was on 17 lbs untuned.
