good ADHESIVE for dash?

I have the OG, a 90 AWD. there are a lot of spots on the dsh where the "leather" is pulling away at the edges and I want to get it under control before it goes to all hell. Anything known to work well? I was gonna just try some clear expoxy, or liquid nails, but Id rather get er done right the first time.

i removed my dash out it on my work bench and ran a bead of hot glue all up in there and used a piece of 1x2 with a large C-clap to clap the corners down until the glue dried. has held up great! looks factory! and no mess afterwards.

The make a rubberized CA that I've been meaning to try. It's intended for bonding foam rubber tires to rims and remains somewhat flexible.

Considering how warm the dash can get in the summer with the windows closed I don't expect the hot melt to last.

Gorilla Glue. However, one of the main challenges to gluing down the dash covering is the foam underneath it. That stuff has long since lost what little internal strength it had to begin with, and gluing to it will only result in it sticking fine to the cover, but tearing free again once it goes through a few hot and cold expansion/contraction cycles as that foam continues to rot. You need to get the glue down through the foam to the metal frame.
Gorilla Glue expands as it sets -much like insulation foam, which is also much like the dashboard foam- so do some experimentation with it before diving into the dash.
Stiff vinyl dashboard covers have been a pain in the ass since they showed up in '67.

Ive used gorilla glue before and didnt like it due to the foamy aftermath, but in this situation I think itll work good. Im gonna try to scrape out as much loose foam from the dash as I can first.

Nobody tried gluing some 1/4' foam to the back side of the foam, and wrapping that foam around the metal and gluing it all down? Or maybe using some material?

I work at an Auto Interior shop and all we use is Contact cement. Its a yellow/green glue that we spray on. However it can also be put on with a brush or swab.

We use it on foam Headliners/Door panels ect.

You apply a thin coat to each surface, let them sit for 5 min then stick them together

Shop 3M: 3M Fastbond 30NF Contact Adhesive Neutral, 1 qt

3m makes a real good adhesive in a spray can, thats what i always use. Your local paint store would have it and i am sure auto zone or A&A would have it also.

hahaa yeah but you can buy the same type of shit at any craft store for like 5 bucks for a little can. Its just Contact Cement...doesn't have to be 3M, that's just what we use at the shop for professional use.

You still have the basic cause of the dash's original failure- the hard plastic cover warps in the heat of the sun (it's a thermoplastic, and it's formed with heat in the first place) and the foam underneath isn't strong enough to hold it. The foam either crumbles or tears, and the plastic lifts again.
Material would work.... other than the amount of labor involved. You'd need to remove the dash to really get it done.

I thought about just ripping a 1g dash out and re fabricating that plastic and foam cover with something else.It would be a project and a half.But that was the worst idea to make a dash with them materials.I guess you half to screw up to learn a lesson and that's why they don't use that method anymore.My foam and all is pulling off by my glove box and dash and it bothers me every time i look at it i just want to rip it off But then again i want to rip the whole interior out cause the materials and colors are the ugliest thing I've ever seen I just cant fork our the money to do so.But good luck with fixing your dash

Permatex makes a glue specifically for this use. Its for headliners, any vinyl surface etc..
