Go from Internal to External WG Possible?

Never tried this but thought about it at the time of buying my turbo I wasn't wanting to get into my car as much as now. Lately I have been wanting the bling and added coolness of an external gate.

My PTE 50 trim is away for repairs and this has me with lots of time to do lots of stuff so I have been adding to my car like crazy.

My turbo is currently internally gated and does not creep there is no issues with it at all. I just want external. I have no problem buying and welding a flange to my manifold and running a new O2 housing etc I can make and do all that. My question is what do you do with the stock internal gate? Can I just tack weld the flapper shut or what? If anyone can give some info problems or other that can help out I appreciate it.

ya just weld the flapper shut then take the spring/diaphram part of the wategate off and your good to go.

Im sorry but not to be rude and if this is I do apologize. But you are a "wiseman" and you dont know you can just weld the flapper shut?

shouldnt wisemen be "wise" about all facets of dsms? converting an internally gated turbo to external is simple.

Wise as we may be were not all gods or anything and help each other out as well. I wanted opinions on ways to do it and to fully make sure that you can just weld the flapper shut.

I do understand where you come from that we should be wise to everything but if everyone knew everything on the board there would be no board.
