gm mass and translator

All this just to vent your blow off valve? Wow, well yes that is correct as the factory karman vortex type mass air flow sensor reads back flow and if you open vent on a mitsu mass air sensor then your car will run like crap.

You have to have a differant type of mass air flow metering system to vent to atmosphere. But just so you know, in most cases its best to recirculate any how. When you recycle the wasted boost outa the blow off valve and back into the air filter pipe your giving that air back to the turbo

It's a headache. I had this setup and could never get the car to run right ever, even threw in a safc to fine tune but ditched it for dsmlink. Dsmlink with speed density is THE WAY TO GO bro and you will probably hear that over and over. It's pricey but well worth the investment.

On a side note. If you are dead set on ventin your bov and may be on limited funds. You can find a hks vpc/gcc setup for fairly cheap these days, probably even the same price that the gm maf/translator go for. I have one but will never part with it. It converts your car to sd. It's old school but you'll be able to vent and have a way better setup then gm maf/translator.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes you can vent to atmosphere with a GM MAF in blow-through after the BOV. I didn't like the way my car ran with it in blow-through with the MAFT. You're gonna have to be able to tune IMO, cause it is sensitive to climate changes, moisture & didn't give me the most stable tune :notgood: YMMV

I didn't even like the way it ran using DSMLink V2 & the MAFT, so I ditched it for a 2G MAS. When V3 came out I got the GM MAF cable and now I run the GM MAF in draw-through and the tune is perfect!!

If you have a hard intake pipe with a CAI in the stock SMIC location then you can hear the BOV blow off. You would never know mine is recirculated. It is loud as hell...not intentionally, just a side effect of my configuration.

Well I have a HKS Vein Pressure Converter (vpc) with 2 differant chips, the intake air temp sensor, the mannifold absolute pressure sensor and the plug play harness. I guess in a way the VPC can be used strickly as a translator

I to vent V3 with the special maf sensor adaptor plug-in on a 3.5" GM sensor but then manned up and switched to SD.

If interested in hks vpc ill sell you, hundred bucks.

yep on the sd. there are other programs than link. thats a big price to vent. the maourself maft is ok, but you'll find yourself mounting it in the cab so you can adjust it when conditions change.
a maft IS tuning. you will need a wide band. so,....if you will spend 150.00 on that, you might as well spen 50.00 on a map sensor, 20 on an air temp sensor, socket your ecu, 175.00 for an osterich chip emulator, 20.00 on jackal....and start tunning.
easy:hellyeah:

This guy just wants to vent his blow off valve to hear that swoosh sound and drive with that "FandF" effect. Its ovbious he aint gonna be tuning any time soon. To the OP, hell with it, just vent your BOV on the factory mits maf sensor. He won't know the differance anyhow...
