I kept searching and looking thru the tech articles. But there are none for using a GM MAS. I know some domestic guys that just gave me one as it was just an extra part laying around. I dont have a need for it yet. But I dont want to add hard IC piping without taking into consideration the advantages of using one.

u can use a maf trans with it and vent ## blow off valve it also is bigger an show air reading better than stock maf. it helps spool quicker.

GM MAF

1. Less restrictive than the stock MAF, depending on what size, a 3' MAF is great.
2. You can mount the MAF on the output side of your intercooler.
- Allows you to vent your BOV into the atmosphere instead of recirculating it
- Allows for more accurate air reading because it measures the actual temp going to your intake
3. MAF-T allows for basic tuning of fuel injector sizes

Translation to English, with additional extrapolation:

You can't plug in a GM MAS directly, you need to get something called a MAF-T (Mass Airflow Translator) to utilize it. This will run you about $200 new or used. You must have a hard upper intercooler pipe at least, to mount it in blow-through mode.

Advantages:
Freer flowing. The stock MAS is a Karmann Vortex style, which is quite restrictive. The GM MAS can flow up to 500% better... letting your turbo breathe easier, and thereby making it easier to spool. (less turbo lag)
Since you normally will mount one in 'blow-through' mode (after the CBV/BOV and well after the turbo) you can worry less about boost leaks; it'll only measure air that's actually making it to the throttle body, instead of botching on any intercooler and/or IC piping leaks.
If mounted in blow-through mode, you can switch to a proper blow off valve, instead of the stock compressor bypass valve. You can also vent to atmosphere (after switching to a BOV), which will also give you that ricey 'hiss' on shifts, but will remove any compressor surge faster and more effectively.
The GM MAS will give a more accurate air-count, and will be able to support a much larger airflow (aka: higher total horsepower) before overrunning.

There are a ton of places that sell the MAF-T unit... MachV Perfromance, Slowboy Racing, and Extreme PSI off the top of my head.
