Thanks for the fast replies, i check the impala ss MAF part number 25180303 cost me about $100, so thats what im goign with, the Camara SS and ws6 trans am use a different part number, not sure y?

Thanks, Clayton

I sold my pretty black limited edition SAFC2 once I installed the 2.01 MAFT in a blow thru
configuration. It does the same thing, so why complicate the matter? If you hook up the RPM wire, you can also put it into RPM mode for 2% RPM fine adjustments.

Actually, I think it is easier to tune with the MAFT than my SAFC since you don't have to
dig thru menus. Another plus is I installed the control box in my center console storage for fast adjusments and theft prevention...

If I'm correct the imaplla was the LT1 style and came factory with 58?mm oval opening. It's still the same type of sensor with the same type of plug. The truck sensor and I know after the LT1(ie-LS1 346 also used in 97+ vettes) are large and round. I believe anything post Tuned Port Injection(ie-93+)will work with the MAF-T. I think it's realy a preference on whether or not u want to use a 3" pipe all the way, or use the oval, which is much larger than the factory 2g therefor will not fit on the factory air box. IMO I'd get the round one. But my opinion is why i have my own car huh. ;) Oh and if my "facts" are off, let me know, I used to build TPI engines but nothing past 93. Good luck. Take pics and let us know!

OK, yeah the Impala SS MAF sensor is 3" circular, So thats What i did indeed get. Waiting for some warmer weather, going to modify my custom FMIC pipes to accomodate the MAFT setup
get the pipes powdercoated, then hopefully I can get it too tune with no knock.

Thanks, for the help, Clayton

I have already in my car a SAFC, but at 15 psi of boost or more im getting 43 counts of knock, knock starts to decrease as I richen up the SAFC, I cam only gt to like +7, before I get fuel cut. Im assuming this is because Im oout flowing my 1g MAS?

My main concern is I have the MAFT translator latest version, what GM part number MAF sensor do you guys use, I work at a GM dealer, so I want to get the right sensor. But How do I setup the MAFT if I want to tune with the SAFC only?

Thanks, Clayton

Buy a wideband. Please for the sake of your car.

I have a logger, dont see the need right now for a wideband, also my friend has one, for his s2000, said if I bought an extra sensor, i could use his wideband whenever.

Clayton

I have an older version translator and would like to know if there is a way to get mine "updated". My buddy has the newer version and I believe his works alot better.

So what about running a flashed e-prom and the maf-t? Just zero out the maf-t and then fine tune with it? What about the maf-t version 6.xx?? Its supposed to have full fuel and timing control? I believe its on ramchargers website.

What i don't understand is why have 2 tuning devices in your car and why zero out a tuning device. doesn't that defeat the purpose of a tuning device just so the other one will work. so what some of you guys are saying the tuning of the MAFT is second hand to the AFC and the AFC is primary. your piggybacking a piggyback, right? i still don't understand why. i do understand if MAFT and a Apexi joined and you could vent and have a pretty little display then it would be OK.

Using the maft allows venting and the use of the GM MAF which flows more than a 2G mas. I cannot explain the safc use with it as i only use the maft. Mark

Cause sometimes you get sick of jumping out of the car, poping the hood making adj.'s and looking for a place to stop to do so. I would make the adj. on the AFC run the car if it was better then I would make the adj. on the MAFT and zero the AFC back out. But yes this is frustrating and DSMLink will be soon to come. And yes I know some people run the wires in the cab so they don't have to do this.

Some people enjoy the performance of the MAF-t but tuning of an AFC. So they run both :thumb:
OK lets say for instance you get a dsmlink are going to keep a AFC in because your too lazy to get the laptop out or are you going to FAST AND THE FURIOUS a laptop and intergrate it into your car. it still makes no cents.

Since when is having a computer integrated into your car "Fast and the Furious"? Because yes this is what I am doing.

yes, i did say laptop. having what your refering to is a great idea for a dsmlink, AEM, MOTEC ect.

I personally could care less about venting, but being able to remove that huge restriction on the intake and then being able to run the air intake out side of the car I feel is benefical enough for me to get a Maf-t even while having a flashed eprom or a safc.
