GM MAF and air temp

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but would like confirmation by others.

I was out running some logs the other day and realized that my intake air temp was always 82 degrees. Let the car cool on 50 degree day and start car and still 82 degree air temp. Change MAF with spare and still come up with 82 degree air temperature.

I'm pretty sure that the GM MAF can not read air temp and that the translator is just telling the ECU that its 82 degrees out all the time.

Can someone confirm?

The GM MAF measures the straight air mass, and does not need the ECU to compensate for temperature changes like the stock MAF does. It's calibrated to work with that temp value.

Thanks for the reply.

I kinda miss being able to see the air temp on my logs. It was very helpfull when trying to sheild the intake from engine heat, etc.
