I'm Backkk. LOL. Anyways i went to the local hoffmans car wash tonight just about 1hr ago just to quickly wash my car.

I left and got about 4mins into driving and my car started to run a little odd. Putting and smelling like rubber(i think it was like a rubber smell) So i looked at my wideband (plxm300) and it was showing at idle I was running at 10.5-12 and crusing it would go up a bit maybe around 13 or so and when i would let off the gas it would go lean and sit there untill i hit the gas again. and it just did not want to go untill i romped on it and still when i let off the gas and just cruised it just went rich and poped and sputter'd and would not pull.

So when I got home i pop'd my hood and the mani was glowing bright red and there was a bad smell. So i checked my maf and it was plugged in as it did kinda the same thing when the maf came unpluged once. I have no idea why my AFR'S are freaky deaky now. and why it is doing this. I know running lean will cuase you're mani to glow bright red. But according to my WB i was not running lean untill i let off the gas.

My profile is not correct anymore. It is a stock motor in there now with a t25. Aeromotive FPR, Wally 255. injen intake, 3inch turbo back.10lbs boost. no rear o2 as that is where my WB is.

So i am a little lost as of right now.
 
Your manifold should not glow red under regular driving conditions. Going lean when letting off the gas while I'm gear is normal. You are rich during idle and cruising though, probably seems as if you are probably stuck in open loop. Only thing to cause that is high EGT's, but can't think as to why they would be high, I'm puzzled! :(
 
Ahh so When I let off the gas it is ok for it to go lean and stay there for a bit ? Is it normal to go lean when i let off the gas when i am just sitting there(say i rev the motor for a quick sec) Yes I am puzzled as well. I just don't get it. I know i have a boost leak at the throttle body(shaft seals are bad) But the leak is not all that major. I am still able to boost to 10lbs.

I will try and see if I can dig out my old red brick and watch the o2 sensor and see what it is doing. And check my codes as my cel is forever on.
 
Yes its very normal to run lean after just bliping the pedal mine does the exact same thing. How ever your idling at 10.2+ wow at idle mines around 14.5-14.9 yours is running way to rich at idle! You need to lean it out more.

Do you even have ecmlink? As if you have taken the rear o2 out that is most likely not helping or is the problem! I was also under the impression that running to rich will make it glow red as its igniting on the exit of the chamber and of course make the mani glow! But I've read it also cools it down! So I might be wrong as I read this many moons ago!! Either way you need to adjust your idle to at least high 13s. Have you tried putting your old pump back in and seeing if it does anything?

Oh and before I forget as everyone ask's LOL is your BOV re circulated?

I no longer have link. I sold it awhile ago after I blew my motor. There is a bone stock motor in there now, minus the FPR,injen intake and wally pump.

The rear o2 sensor has not been in the car since i first installed link for my old motor. The rear o2 sensor's main purpose is to check cat effincey. I don't think it has to do with fuel trims(at least not in this old of a car) You're front o2 sensor's sole purpose is to monitor and adjust air/fuel.

If you have a leaky or stuck open injector that could cause it to run rich and make the mani glow red due to it burning in the exhaust manifold.

I am already idling at 1k-1.5k I don't want to idle any higher.

I no longer have my old pump, It went bye bye a long time ago.

Yes it is reciculated, Even though i have never seen or felt a dif with it not rec.
 
Have you tested the front O2 sensor? Are you in closed loop? If you lean out when you're accelerating somethings wrong with the closed loop system, a stuck-open injector would cause an even richer situation under acceleration.
 
Question, what is your FPR set at with NO vacuum line connected?
 
Have you checked your timing? Buddy of mine had similar issue ended up being that the timing was off a tooth, tensioner started to go bad.

When I get home I am going to check the front o2 and make sure it is cycling right.

I think I have it set at 42psi

Have you checked your timing? Buddy of mine had similar issue ended up being that the timing was off a tooth, tensioner started to go bad.

No I have not checked my timing yet, I was thinking the same thing, That it might have jumped a couple teeth.
 
Let us know tour FPR, won't hurt to check again. Also, have you checked base timing? Worth to check if you haven't already.

The fpr is set at 40lbs with out vac. And no i have not checked my base timing yet. I wish you could adjust ign timing on a 2g
 
I second checking the timing. Its possible you balance shaft belt is bad and starting to fall apart, maybe the rubber your smelling. Ive had a few go into the timing belt and skip it, bending valves each time.

I myself was thinking the same thing. Has Any one else had there timing belt be insanely loose when it is at a certain position when the engine is off ? like at the top of the cam gears it is really floppy ?

Honestly I have no idea how many miles are on this motor I bought. People always tend to lie about the miles. All I did was bring it back to the shop and drop it in, And replaced the oil, coolant.

Hmmm, that doesn't sound too good. I would definitely check that. Personally I have not seeing that happen before.
 
My timing belt does the same thing, sometimes it's tight, sometimes it's loose and i have a new tensioner and kevlar belt, less than 3k on them.
