Does the gas gauge needle not move now? The light will still come on when your tank is empty. If so, just wait for the light to come on and then adjust the needle. Make sure it's not rubbing on anything, too.
Definitely make sure the end of the needle isn't rubbing on the indiglow face anywhere. I actually had to take a razor and trim a piece out of the face so the rear of the needle wouldn't rub.
