A sad day has come for me. I don't want to do it but is has to be done. The dragons must be removed. After a year & a half of looking great they have lost their luster & are peeling horribly.

I wanna know what is the best method of removing them? I searched & came up with a ton of threads on the subject but most deal with small stickers & pinstripes. You guys have seen pics of my dragons...they're huge! Would it be a good idea to apply those methods to them(such as a heatgun & goo-be-gone)? In your opinion what would the best method?

Thank you for your time. You'll have to excuse me as I need to go cry into my pillow about the whole situation.:(

dam that sucks, but if theyre peeling then its time for them to go. maybe you can make a better grapic than the dragons thatll look even better than it did before.

id just peel them off and use a gasoline soaked rag to rub off the stick goo stuff. but youre gonna have a fat shadow of where the paint never got any UV fading, so itll look kinda weird. it "could" buff right out. i had some sticker on the back of my car that said "neitherlands" when i bought it, i tore it off within 5 minutes of being home, rubbed the residue off and tried polishing wax and scratch remover, and i still have a shadow.

Good god, don't go anywhere near paint with a razor blade unless you want it to look like a Lewis & Clark dugout canoe.

This time of year, sunny day, 4 PM, WD-40 or Goo-begone (or Goof-Off) and patience. Hope it hasn't left a shadow in your paint. If your car's a repaint, be especially careful.

Congratulations on growing some taste. Finally.

LIghter Fluid. :thumb:

It wont hurt your paint. I wouldnt use gof off because, well, its made for taking paint off of things.

Damn Alan, have they been on that long. They kinda grew on me after a while.

I second the Lighter fluid thing, I used it to get off some super glue that dripped on my hood, worked great.

Goo Gone sucks. It seriously doesn't cut the crap off. Go to the paint section in pretty much any hardware store, wal-mart, etc. There will be a white can or spray bottle of stuff called OOPS. It is the best for sticker removal, getting grease off ur carpet, etc. The heat gun sounds about right. Peel SLOW. I had a friend rip some clear coat off his accord. OMG

im saying follow it with a strait edge while yor peeling it off. and take it off at a 180deg angle (strait back)

considering ive removed and installed hundreds of vinals i like to think i know what im talking about.

Hey man...too bad they got to come off. Screw what the others said, I want a pair of blue dragons on my car (got a few designs my boy has made) I just havn't taken the plunge yet.

I think the 180 degree thing with like an flat peice of plastic. Do you still have the applicator the sticker came with? Use that and keep spraying that section with water to get all the glue moist and go slowly. If you go slow you will have minimal sticky residue, and what ever is left just a little elbow greace will take it out. :thumb: :talon:

Just use a hair dryer, or go buy a heat gun and peel as you heat. Should come off just swell ;)

personally, I wouldn't use gasoline or any volatile liquid to take the stickers off. I've messed up the shiny black paint on my truck by using a little bit of gas to de-badge it.

I've always had good success with a heat gun and a bondo scraper. Just be patient.

a heat gun is going to warm the adheasive up and cause it be more plyable and it can smear. thas why i said use a light spirits to remove the glue. if you pull it off at a 180 most of the glue will come off with the vinal.

I wouldn't go that far. I'll have dragons again. Just the next time they'll be airbrushed. I will always be a ricer....though I suppose there are still people who hope I'll grow out of it. ;)

Anyways, I've already pealed them. They came off super easy. I then went & pressure-blasted the shadows at the carwash. Took most of it off. Now later tonight I'm going to break out the bottle of Oops I got at Autozone ealier today.

Thanks everyone. I'll post pics when I'm finished & get them tooken.

there is a product called sticker shock...its the bomb nizzy. spray some on a rag and stickers be gone. it also removes all sorta crap on your paint. it is the only thing that ive found on the market that removes stuff from paint without harming the paint itself.

dont listen to these guys above me... or do, and risk your paint. 4 dollars a bottle is well worth it.

So do I. Miz's hands are about half as steady as Kathryn Hepburn's were. Although hers have gotten a lot better. :D

Here is all that's left of the dragons;
