Does this new MAF look legit. It was a really low price now i feel uncomfortable putting it in. Is there a way to figure out if its genuine?

It looks legit enough. I ran the number on the web and came back as this
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/264514163231 The web page says this part will fit your vehicle ..
Correct me if I am wrong but this part will fit your 97 GST...
The decal looks correct for sure ..

Thank you for doing that brother. Im scared of getting bootleg parts that could damage the engine. Nowadays its very hard to determine fake or poor quality knockoff part. Guess i could give it a go for a couple miles and see if it works ok.

You would think that Mitsubishi would know how to spell their own name though....
Holy crap man thank you! Not going on the car!

I'm calling fake. Unless Mitsubimi Electric Corp is legit.....

That’s not a DSM MAF. Its for a 3000gt/diamanté/other Japanese models. It could work if the metering is close to that of a genuine 2g maf (which is a 609 MAF, in case you want one)
Thanks man i appreciate it.

I really appreciate the detail put into the answers guys. Im glade i never put it on. I'd say the fast feedback helped me not make a mistake thanks again.

Why did you buy it? What's wrong with what you have?

It intermittently acts up. It decides when it wants to behave. All the wiring and pig tail tested good on my multimeter but the sensor was out of spec according to the repair manual.

I bought that sensor off a friend that got rid of his car so i thought it was an ok sensor. I thought it looked a little too new so i got a little leary and decided to talk to you guys. Turns out suspicion was the correct mind set.

What was your friend using for a tuning solution? This was on a dsm correct?

Yep a left over of a old project car that no longer ran. My driveability isn't impacted at all i just thought the idle would be better with a good condition MAF since mine is kind of in poor health. 10$ for a sensor seemed ok, but damn i can't believe he sold me a bootleg part...

Oh to answer tuning, he never got the project off the ground. He bought sensors and belts and other stuff it needed to even get it running since the car was at one point a roller part out before he got it.

I tried googling “mitsubismi electric corp” and didn’t come up with very much. A few articles on Facebook but mostly things auto correcting to mitsubishi. That’s interesting and I totally missed it until it was pointed out.

Darn it.. I never even noticed that Mitsubishi was spelt wrong on that label.. and I said the decal was correct ... Sorry for that.. but the link I gave is the right Mass Air Flow Sensor for your ride... I went back and checked the decal ( Label ) on that part and it is correct .. When I unplug my MAFS my car will idle around 900 to a 1000.. plug it back in and it goes to 2000... Still working on that..
