yesterday I finally got my clutch to work took it for a drive and noticed that when I switch into 2nd it grinds a little bit. now i know for a fact that the clutch is dis-engaged, what can be the problem? it also does it to 3rd. very little grinding before it gets into gear. is it shift linkage? tranny?

then another problem is it pops out of 5th when I put too much pressure on gas. any help would be appreciated

Sounds like the synchros are going on it. Does it happen with every shift or just when you're shifting hard and fast? Mine used to grind slightly when going into 3rd when banging through tyhe gears but shifting normally it was fine. Took it apart and replaced all the synchros and it's fine. It helps to run a good fluid in the trans too. I run amsoil in my trans t-case and rear end. Matter of fact every fluid but the p/s and anti freeze is amsoil in my car.

im gonna take it to ammacco transmission today to get it checked out. hopefully not expensive im tired of tranny work. gotta do head gasket job on my millenia.

Popping out of 5th gear is a sign of a serious issue with your tranny. This is a quote from the VFAQ: "My shifter moves around in 5th gear! Is there a fix?
My shifter moves around in [1st-4th] gear! Is there a fix?
My shifter keeps popping out of gear! Is there a fix?
Search now! Look for shift* and move* and nut.

This is a symptom of a serious problem, at least on 1G DSMs. Shifter movement is not generally normal in DSMs. Having the shifter move around, especially in 5th gear, or popping out of gear (even once or twice) could be an indication of a loose retaining nut inside the transmission. Several 1G DSMers have had the rotten experience of having this nut come off completely, and consequently blasting a hole in their transmission. This problem only affects FIFTH gear - gears 1 through 4 and reverse do not appear to suffer from this difficulty.

Those who are uncertain must read this post and this post, both by Paul Lyons, and this one by Ashok Babu, who had his transmission fail on him. Don't take a chance on this one, since the inspection procedure is easy.

This problem does not appear as common on 2Gs, and at least one owner has reported that there was a loose nut in his shifting assembly that was causing the shifter to pop out of 5th. This is NOT the same nut that is involved in the 1G problem.

2G owners who suffer from problems with the shifter moving around in a gear OTHER than 5th gear have a different problem. David Gowlowski reported that his transmission failed because of a bad bearing on the input shaft, which corroded away until his car would not shift into second gear. He believed that this bearing was part of a bad lot. He keeps a report on his website: read all about his problems here. "

wow i appreciate it. didnt get a chance to get it in the shop today. would i be able to fix this without taking the tranny out? ive takin it out 3 times already due to very stupid mistakes and i dont care to take it out another time. what would happen if a drove around for a little bit?

<edited>

also just to make sure that this is a fixible issue that wont cost too much. or would it be better just to buy a used tranny? I can get one 50.00-100.00

just got a quote and they said 700 for labor and a little more for parts. how hard can it be?? thats freakin expensive to fix. I dont really have time to fix. sooo ill just hunt for a tranny. let me know what yall think.

also my heard told me about "synchro mesh" oil to put in the tranny and that it might fix the problem. i guess i could try it. has anyone else had experience with this?

you guys said something about a loose bolt and thats why it pops out of fifth gear. can anyone show me a daigram or explain in more detail. also is it pretty easy to get to???? thanks you guys.
