gear oil?

I've searched here and there and everywhere it seems and have yet to find an answer to my question.
What transmission fluid is reccomended in a 1st gen AWD manual tranny?
Same goes for transfer case?
Same goes for rear diff?

Not a gear oil, but... any specific fluid for the cluch line?
Thanks ahead of time, I've got to change my tranny for my winter car as winter is coming and I can't drive my low Soarer in Saskatchewan winters!! Haha

Redline MT, Diaqueen, or Mitsu 75-90 are the fluids of choice. You can use Shockproof in the transfer case and rear diff if you'd like, but not in the transmission itself. I personally fill all 3 with Diaqueen, but that's pretty hard to find currently.

Just filled up with gm syncromesh today. And what a much smoother shift! I did quite a bit of research. On my next trans ( going to have one built ) i will most likely run Redline MT-90. And try that out.

I've tried A LOT of fluids in both my Honda and my DSM. GM synchromesh friction modified is the smoothest shifting stuff by a LONG SHOT, in both cars.

Symncromesh is not recommended, and while shockproof heavy is great for the transfer case and rear, you shouldn't use that in the winter.

I use red line products. They are the best out there that is what Jacks Transmissions uses in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The number to jacks is 719-268-6011. They can get you the fluid.

Just for clarification, the Redline Light weight shockproof for the tranny and Redline Heavyweight shock proof are suitable even for Canadian winters? Occationally hitting -40C and colder for long stretches?

Redline light weight shock proof is never suitable for the tranny, use redline MT-90 or MT-85. Some people prefer light weight for the transfer case and rear diff in colder areas instead of heavy weight.

And Hondas can use regular 5w/30 oil in them ... been that way since they make the "Lunchbox 600" since it used a 600 CC motorcycle motor and transmission.

I've ran the Honda MTF in my hatch. The GM Synchromesh FM feels a significant amount smoother then even that.

Be careful. I have never used the GM Synchromesh but the others I have used are too thin. These products shift great but do not have good shear properties on gear sets. Not really an issue on an unmodified car but will allow damage on higher HP setups.

I remember I ran 80-90 gear oil in my trans before, and boy was it a sludgy shifter when the weather got down in the 20's!!! Not to mention my throwout bearing's been making noise for like seventy thousand miles. So it ground first and second every time.
