Gauge size for fuel pump rewire?

I used 10g on my re-wire. 14g is a pretty small wire.

10 gauge has a MUCH bigger cross-sectional area than 12, much less resistance = more power!

j/w I used 10g wire and a 30amp inlinefuse holder from an old amp wire that was already in my car. Would this work as good as regular 10g wire. I bought a kit to rewire it but i already had the amp wires ran already.

10 gauge is 10 gauge. It should have the same results.

I ran a 8 gauge feed from the battery to the relay, and then split off to 10 gauge to both fuel pumps, a wally 255 intank, and a bosch 044 inline.

Why would 12 ga not be worth it? According to RRE, the Walbro 190lph only demands about 6 amps, therefore 12 ga wire should be plenty support. I ran 10 ga for my walbro sharing with my ShureFlo meth inj pump, Ive had it fused for 25A and have stepped it down to 20A fuse, still hasnt blown... im anxious to try a 15A fuse just to see what its really flowing under real world conditions

I used 10 gauge, but what i'd like to poitn out is that most poeple cut the wiure before the stock plug then wire into that 18 gauge crap that they were trying to replace. TO get the truely best performance you can get you need todrill through th stock plug and wire directly to the plug on the pump (pull the pins and solder in big wire - I like 12 gauge) Then use permatex ultra grey/super gray as it's the only one i've found that won't fall apart when contacted with fuel, and no matter how perfect you drill the wire holes, gas WILL spash from them and you'll smell it while driving.

The pump really doesn't draw enough amps to need more than 12, but most people and myself use 10, but as i said, IMO ( just mine) if you wire into the stock plug you are only really benefiting from having the direct battery terminal as your power source instead of theough a thousand miles of stock wiring before the pump... IWre length and gauge all play a part in power deliver... Did you know that you can have too big of a wire if the length is not llong enough? say you had a 3'' wire that was 8 guage, you would benefit in power delivery by dropiing to a 12 guage wire for that 3 inches.. electricity in some circumstances flows much like water ( or at least can be looked at in that aspect) If you've got the mind for designing, building and troubleshoting designs as some have you wont' need to second guess yourself... SHould you want any more of my opinions feel free to ask...

depends where the battery is placed. a battery placed in the trunk will be fine with a 12 gauge wire. a battery placed in the stock location ( under the hood) will require a 10 gauge wire. look for info on voltage drop and youll see why.

I recently did this, but i used "10 gauge" left over from an ebay amp kit. So it was probably actually 12 gauge. I will probably go back and replace it with true 10 gauge later, but as of now my car runs with it

Going from 12g to 10g is only worth about 0.044 volts, assuming the FP rewire uses 8 feet of wire and the pump is pulling 9 amps. The stock wire is 18g and closer to 10' long, so it has a total voltage drop close to 0.6V.
