by the way solreclipsegurl... do you really think "do not copy" repeatedly pasted across your sig is going to keep someone from copying? Its too generic. You should put "proptery of solreclipsegurl" or just "solreclipsegurl" repeatedly across your sig instead. Just a though :thumb:

does anyone know how much it cost to recalibrate your needles or even how to do it? i just installesd some reverse el indiglo gauges form speedhut yesterday and my speedometer is off by like 10 or 15 mph. all my other needles work fine i think. just wondering if anyone know how much or how to do this.

It's tricky!! [I played with my speedo gauge because it was off by 3 mph.] There are 2 things that might have happened when you stuck your hands in there.... The needle may have moved [rotated on the tiny shaft] or the 'zero stop' thingy may have moved. You'll just have to play around with it yourself - if you dare!!
Does the needle read zero when you're stopped?
Are you sure that the needle is not rubbing on the new face?

yes when i come to a complete stop my needle reads 0 but when i am slowing down and i am almost at a complete stop it says that im going 15 mph and theres no way that i'm going that fast. i called my mitsubushi dealer the other day and they said that they can't fix them there but i have to go to a shop to get that done. they said that they had to put my car on a dyno to set the needles correctly. they set it shoudnt be expensive to fix, but i was wondering what kind of shop could do that. maybe pep boys or autozone?

The dealership scan tool can calibrate the gauges so that the computer agrees with the displays. However, if the needle or mechanism has been damaged or any drivetrain mods (including a tire/wheel outside diameter change) has taken place then a combination of a rolling dyno (for speedometer calibration purposes) and a computer that can calibrate the speedo in the car's computer will be required to get everything right.

I got some reverse indiglo guages from www.modacar.com for Christmas. Had them put in a couple of days ago. Apparently the guy removed the needles when he put em in. So now all of guages are screwed. Is there ANY way to reset them other than just taking them off and playin with em??? Please help me out here guys? Anybody had the same thing happen?

go to a friends eclipse...turn the key to on but dont start.....mark where the needles go....and fix yours with the key on.....there ya go fixed

Believe it or not, but I don't have 1 friend that drives an eclipse. Could anybody tell me where their needles are when the key clicks to on(not cranked) or could somebody take a picture? Sorry for the hastle, but any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This will not work, It is nearly impossible to match up with another vehicle. The easiest way I can think of is to plug a OBD-II scanner into the car and match up speed and RPM from the scanner to the needles.

the scanner will say your actual speed and RPMS, while you have the plastic cover off you will drive around and match whatever the scanner says, to physically lift and push back the needles into place.

Then Raise hand and wackdumbass who removed a set of "no removal needle installation" faces.

Ok, I gotcha. Seein as how I don't have the money to spend on an OBD right now, anybody else got any ideas.

Don't worry FireBretha, he's already gotten his. And if I can't fix them, he's gonna find me a new guage cluster and I'M gonna do it my damn self.

Here's a question for you guys while I'm at it: I've gotten someone to follow me and tell me how fast I'm goin. My speedo is exactly 10 mph off. Knowing this, is it possible to drive around without the plastic piece
(maybe set the cruise control), pull my needle and reset it?

i have the same problem except my needles wont register and when they do it's idle at 4 to 6 rpms, i've tryed everything said in teh forums to fix it and nothing works

I have this problem too, and my tach says I'm idling at 1300 rpm

ok so i was replacing the gauge faces on my 91 tsi. ive read alot about how easy it is to mess up the needles. i took all of them off and inserted the new faces. put the needles back on but then the temp and gas gauges needles werent catching. I adjusted all the other needles properly and worked fine. these two dont have a catching point. so are they ruined? i also tried it again with seperate gauges and didnt take the needles off and barely bumped on needle and it feels like its not catching anymore as well. any ideas?

Try filling your tank full and warming your car all the way, then putting the gas needle back on at 'F' and the temp needle in the center, turn your car off and then turn it back on and see what they do

i had the same problem but found a solution, put ## cluster in without the plastic, if you have a tachometer which i do then look at it while holding gas to about 3k rpm the take of needle and put at 3k rpm. you will prob have to do this from 1k to about 5k to get it accurate. thats how i did mine but i bet holding ## gas there is not good for ## car. LOL
