First off, I have the stock white gauge faces on my 98 RS. I like them a lot but all of my gauge needles are f***ing black!! I can hardly see them at night! Did they come stock? I want the glowing red ones I've seen on the other stock eclipses. Please help! :)

i'm failry certain that the stock ones are orange... yours could of been painted or replaced...are the readings off at all?

I don't think those are stock faces or needle colors.
The only DSM to my knowledge w/o black gauges faces is the 99 GS Anni. edition.
Why would your NT require premium fuel???
Black doesn't glow. Pull the needles scrape the paint of the back of the needles (hopefully the prev. owner didn't paint the entire needle) and repaint orange or red. I reccomend Testors model paint, only paint the back of the needles.

Also, isn't the redline on N/Ts supposed to be around 6500 instead of 7k? Does anyone else think that gas gauge face is a little out of whack? Looks like someone changed them out.

I did a quick check on eBay for N/T aftermarket gauges and it looks like they all say premium fuel required. Maybe they make the speedos on the same line as the turbo gauges to save $$.

i can guarantee you those r not stock...cuz 1 your car is a 1998 and 2 its non turbo...those r aftrmarket, therefore the needles might be too. or painted, but the faces r aftermarket for sure

those are not factory. make sure when you turn on your lights that your dash lights come on you should see some light through the hole in the odomiter(sp).

yes the spedo goes that high on the gs/rs

and the gs/rs rev's to 7200 rpm. at least mine does.

None of the gauges are off in any way. They look indentical to the stock black gauges, only white faced. And the background colors are the stock color also. I still need to check the needles to see if they were painted black... but I'm afraid to break them and I wouldn't know how to reset them back to normal after I was done. I was actually thinking about getting some reverse glow gauges anyway... I don't know. Well, this is what the gauges look like at night... Let me know what you guys think...

Yea, here is a pic of what the stock N/T cluster SHOULD look like...

Notice the redline is at 6500 and it doesn't say anything about premium fuel.

Yeah... they are exactly what I have. I'm just not sure where my black needles came from. I can't see them at night very well and I've looked closely at the needles and the whole needles are black, not just the back of them; which leads me to believe they were there like that. Honestly, I just want some reverse indiglo gauges with some stock red/orange needles to go with them, not black needles. So here's another dilemma I have... when I was looking at the needles, I accidently moved the speedometer needle to about the 20-25 mph mark and it settled back down on its own. But now when I'm driving, it seems like the speedometer is moving slower to speeds and I feel like it's off a bit on the actual speed. I never removed the needles, only looked close... did I mess up the calibration by bumping the speedometer needle? Here's a picture of my car's gauges driving afterward. Could someone test this in a N/T manual transmission and see if it's the same? I have a 1998 Eclipse RS. The car was in 3rd gear at this point. Please let me know!

My suggestion? Just buy another N/T cluster and start over.

And make sure that whatever gauge faces you buy have the correct info on them!
