Is the gas tank in the same place on 97-99 GST's and GSX's, and is the routing of the exhaust and heat shields the same?

^^^He is correct about the tank being split into 2 halves on the GSX and being one piece on the GST. Both tanks, however, are located underneath the back seat. With that being said the exhausts are not interchangeable.

I was wanting to straightin out my custom exhaust on my GST since it follows the stock route, I've noticed on the GSX's custom exhaust run's down the middle. Should I not worry about the heat from the exhaust being so close to my tank?

There's really not a whole lot to gain by "straightening out" your exhaust. A 3" turbo-back exhaust that follows the stock route will flow more than enough for over 99% of the FWDs out there. If you've already made your mind up, I'm not trying to tell you not to do it-- I just think your efforts could be better applied elsewhere.

I always heard that straight as possible is better, you sold me. That much closer to turbo upgrade.

No no, it is better to be straighter, BUT, by the time you'd reach a point in high airflow numbers where that's matter, you might as well just get a 4 inch exhaust made.

Any real difference would be so small, as to be pretty much pointless. Worry about other stuff, trust us. :thumb:
